DM800HDSE Clone - Whats the basic setup steps

I've just received a new DM800HDSE clone from china and wonder what do I need to do to get up and running. As of now I've connected all up and have managed to set up tuner manually and scan - so I can now view so free-to-air stuff. so basically think it works OK

However my query is what logical order of steps should I follow to get a good usable system.

Should I basically stop faffing about with the 'out-of-box' system and as step 1 - apply a good/reliable image that wont break/brick the box. After new image, what other steps are there to consider.

Apologies if Its all a bit vague - I can give any additional system details if it makes my query easier to answer!

I've looked through the forum for answers before posting but unless I've missed something I havent found - and not sure if guide on DM800/DM8000HD apply to DM800HDSE as I have seen people mention when applying images to ensure the image is reference to the EXACT model of machine...

    any help much appreciated...

Thanks for providing your backup image. I've downloaded/extracted. You mention just follow the instructions - do you have instructions/guide for flashing the image on DM800HD SE ? I've seen and read the guide under dm800 8000 the guide "How to flash DM800 via web browser" but wasnt sure if its the exact same process for 800HD SE. Just nervous as I've come across threads saying use image with correct bootloader ssl82/84 (how do I know what mine is) and certain images bricking the box.

Am happy using your image and follow the above DM800 guide if that is the one to refer to.

Many thanks for your help - its a great jumpstart to get me up and running!

One aditional query - was scanning throught the out-of-box sytem/menu options to try understand a bit more. I see there are options for online update of software and packages. I chosing these options to be avioded on clone machines, Iie is this what can potentially brick the box?

      Cheers

Flash via web browser. turn off box by using the switch on the back of the box. Hold the power button at the front of box down while doing so...turn on switch at they back of the ....... keep hold of the power button at the front down until you see STOP and an IP address on the oled screen at the front. Type in that IP address in your web browser and you will get the firmware upgrade page....click on upgrade firmware and follow the onscreen directions.

        All done.

I would suggest never to update no matter what image you are running...as a precautionary measure.

I would second that. Never, ever do an update. Not under any circumstances. However if you do, then recovering your bricked box is possible - but not something you would choose to spend an evening doing
