enigma2 confusion

hi guys, just wanted to know if all these images are backward compatible i.e if my dm800hd clone is running sim2.01 ssl84, could i flash it with e.g sim2.01 ssl76? or sim 1.0 ss74 etc.

because i'm fing it neigh on impossible to find sim2.01 ssl84 image that is ok for a clone, the image that was preloaded has crashed and box will not boot up.

Mate, there are loads of clone safe images.

Most of the SIM2.1 images, provided they are for the correct box will work with a SIM2.01 box.

You can flash any sim 2.01 image on it, you will have to flash the matching bootloader first.

Eg, im using a BL82 image, but have tried some bl84 images, then went back to my bl82 image. Personally i would either use a bl82 or bl84 image nothing older than that.

does that mean i have two different files to flash i.e BLxx and then image xx without bootloader? or is it BLxx with any image (correct sim) with any BL equal or lower? still a bit confused!!
