Crossepg keeps reverting to internal flash ?

Hi, im using Dreamboxuk 2.1.1 image on DM800se with 320gb hdd installed, i set crossepg to store epg to hdd which it does, and set to do it 4am so should be maintance free, eveytime i check next day, it reverts back to internal flash, hard drive is mounted cause i can still record, have picons working etc. i have to restart to get hard drive option back in cross epg, it did once downlload to internal flash, it fits, i had 17mb free before, then with cross epg downloading to internal flash had 5mb free but epg works, its not ideal id like it to stay on hard drive ??

after the restart - should be fine mate. do you have it to restart after the auto download?

has it just atrted happening....or been like this all the time?

i would reconfigure it mate , the directory must be mounted in read / write , best bet is usb stick , less power requirements and solid-state storage so much quieter, reliable

have the same problem i find a restart does the job but apain in the arse but you have to say the epg is great

Maybe it's not waking the HDD from standby for the 4am download. You could try a 2 min scheduled record at 3:55am or even set a Cron jpb to reboot the box at 3:55am.

I don't know if this helps but had the same problem using CrossEPG on a USB with Blackhole. Needed to create a swap file.This sorted the problem.

wheres the file and where do u place it and wants the edit it needs

If using several EPG providers it's possible you could be overfilling the RAM, so using a swapfile should help. I have noticed on BH172 that my swapfile is never more than 10% full unlike earlier versions where it was often 50% full.

I've been looking into this problem and what I've found is that it reverts to internal flash after the auto download on that day. So for me I have it set to 4am, I could see that the epg data downloaded onto my USB drive at 4:01am, the file epg.dat had also been updated at 4:01am, the crossepg log file indicated that it read the config which pointed to the USB drive but after the download and epg processing finished the config was set to Internal Flash.

I've had a look through some of the source code for crossepg and in quite a few places it tests for the presence of /hdd/crossepg so as a test I've created the folder /media/hdd/crossepg/data (/hdd is symlinked to /media/hdd), should know tomorrow if it reverts back to Internal Flash.

Too early to say for sure but it downloaded the EPG data to the USB flash drive and the config files for enigma2 and crossepg are still pointing at the USB flash drive after the changes I made yesterday.

Will monitor it over the next few days.

Blue-Blue and select Swap File settings, create a swap file on USB or HDD, 128 or 256 meg, set it to activate on boot and activate now

I've been investigating it and have found from my testing that it's actually the Crossepg Configure screen that might be the cause of the problem. It runs the 'touch' command when the Configure screen is launched, it then checks for the presence of the touched file on each mounted partition but the touch command sometimes just doesn't work.

I posted on the OpenPLi forums re the touch command and they told me that this is a known issue, when spawning a shelled command from within python, the command can just fail, they think that the command fails with an out of memory error.

So as a test I've changed some of the code on the the Configure page to use python code to perform the test.

The problem is not affecting all config screens.
