Basic question

Can somebody please help a newbie...

I have just got my first box - 800hdse clone wifi - and am experimenting with images but some images state:


installation in internal flash or in multiboot

First of all can you tell me what the difference between the two methods internal flash or in multiboot?

I have been flashing using a browser.

I am worried about bricking my machine as I am not sure what exactly can cause this - and I dont really want to find out!!

Also, how can I tell if an image is SSL82 or SSl84?

I have found some images which do not state which and again I am worried that this may cause a problem - is it worth a go or should I not risk it?

The reason I am trying differnet images is that since flashing I cannot get my wifi to connect - it detects my wireless network but will not connect - It is telling me my access point is "not associated"

problem is all the files are on mulitupload - which is down.

I have found others on other sites but they dont all state ssl84 - how critical is it to use the correct version?

ie if I flash an ssl82 image is it just a case of re-flashing?

You must use correct version and if you have look in the downloads on here i think you will find what your looking for. Best advice i can give you is read/read and have a look on youtube and when you have a basic understanding of what you need to do, there are lots of great guys on here who will go out of there way to help, by the way dont worry about bricking it there almost bomb proof. Have fun.

Thanks canford. I have done plenty of reading - that is exactly why I wanted to flash the image - everyone is talking about their favorites and no-one mentions allrussian/.

I wanted to get the image setup furst before getting stuck into bouquets and skins etc.

Problem is all the image files pon here are on mulitupload - which is down.

IIRC When you boot up you box you should see a website listed there on the oled, check that one out
