DM800 HD PVR n00b questions.

Hi all.

I am completely new to the dreambox market, but i am how ever experienced with linux.

I have just bought a used DM800 HD PVR (original) from a relative which didn't stand to setup the box.

It's currently running:

Nabilo Black Hole v. 0.12
Enigma D2009-10.06.09.37.50-Oct 17 2009
Image: dev-2009-10-09

As i have read on this forum this is very old, and i would of cause like to have the newest and stablest firmware on the box.

I have tried to shutdown the box, remove the cord and hold the button til it says stop, used web interface and tried to flash

Newnigma2 v3.3

but it keeps telling me CRC failed or OLD Image, could any of you please point me to a site where i can find out how to flash my DM800HD PVR.

Hi Kurt
you need to flash a genuine image to your box (provided it is genuine)
a lot of the images on web are for clones , and will not work with an original receiver
a selection of genuine images can be found here Original images for DM800HD
personally i like "dreamboxuk" images (provided you are in uk that is), work well and can update from within the image for settings such as bouquets and picons etc

All you need is there Downloads | dream-multimedia-tv.de or startseite | dream-multimedia-tv.de Try and stay away from 3rd party images until you have it updated.

tried to flash genuine firmware.

and also tried to flash

dreamboxuk but every time i get this message.

crc check failed

(BAD IMAGE or OLD Version)

Update i flashed second stage loader

which resulted in ERR01 NO CA FOUND.

fixed it using "Dreambox NO CA FOUND Repair Tool SIM2/01 EDition-by yassinov" with a null modem cable.

flashed boot loader #75 and working fine again.

found a SIM 2.01 sticker on back of my DM800, and there is also a hologram with DREAM MULTIMEDIA and everything seems original.

thinking about trying to flash second stage loader from this website but i am how ever not sure if it's working.

You have already flashed ssl75 mate, look for a sim2 image with 84a or 84b in title, these are the latest images for sim2 clones
Just make sure its 800 an not 800se an you be good to go

southpaw: Thanks for your reply how ever my DM800HD PVR is genuine and not a clone. should i still look for a image with SIM2 my SIM sticker says SIM 2.01 on the back.

If your sim says 2.01 then I'm am afraid its not a genuine unit Kurt , if you have flashed a sim2.01 ssl75 image to it an it boots up then you definately have a clone mate, an genuine images wont work, check LCD screen on front of box at boot up for confirmation of any sim2 text

Quicker just getting a screwdriver out and taking the lid off. As said there is a few tell tale signs.

You also may be waiting a while on them getting back to you, I have been waiting over 2 months for an answer from them.

bought the box from a friend which paid 650 quid for it 2 years ago, i bought it for 180 quid.

He bought it in a regular store.
