dm800 image help

Hi people looking for some advice here i have purchased a dm800 and it has gemini project 2 on it with ccam loaded but i wanting to know what the best image is for the dm800 is and i would also be wanting to use Mgcamd.

Could someone please tell me if i can still use dream up to flash the box too ?

i have spent a lot of time testing many images, i wanted solid timeshift, recording, epg and streaming from NAS. the only image which consistently met these requirements was guess what? gp2!!
i'm sure you'll get many other opinions about this, and my testing was about 10 months ago, so maybe some better images have come out since (personally been impressed with Merlin), which i havent tested... but after lots of frustration i stuck with GP2.

re dreamup - yep you can still flash with it and null modem/http.
really the only answer if your network connection gets screwed.

oh, and MGCamd - sorry not used it but pretty sure youll be ok with it.

Hi thanks for your reply you may be able to help me with another wee problem then and that is installing Mgcamd i have ftp to the tmp folder but don't know how to manualy install could you help me with this or where will i find a download menu in this image so i could install it from there thanks again

If you have TSpanel on your image you can install any cam from that, if TSpanel isn't on your image there is a thread In "enigma 2 chat" on how to install that on your image , the thread is called " Cccam help on Merlin 2 Excalibur Dm800hd".

Hi i have managed to install tspanel as per your instructions thanks ...... but when i install MGcamd 1.35a from it there dosen't seem to be a config file so i put the Mgcam files from my dm 500 into the var/Keys folder but still having no luck would these files be different cause i'm am working with enigma 2 now as to enigma 1 could someone please help me on this i am running gp2 image and would like to run MGcamd.

Go to TSpanel and install "extra download URL" then restart enigma and the extra download will be in your blue button and that will give you more options for downloading cams and stuff, ( although I'm not sure if it will work for your image but it may help ).Ps i put my mgcamd config files into user/keys but they may end up in the same place as var/Keys

I'm not sure ,if not u can download a config file from TSpanel or extra URL, I always FTP my files over to user/keys anyway and overwrite any config files already there , and the cam works every time. Also When downloading cams from TSpanel some cams are specifically for certain images, have a look for cams that suit your image.Ps dream-elite 3 Dm800 hd is a good solid image and also nemesis 2.4 dm800 hd and also newnigma2 dm800hd 3.3.1.

Thanks again i'm new to the dm800 HD pvr i'm more used to the dm500... My dm800 is a clone and came with gp2 image on it if i'm putting another image on my box is it ok to to use the dm800se images too or just one for the dm800HD pvr also what the most important thing to look for when selecting a image as i notice alot mention sim 2.1 on them. Are the ones you have mentioned clone safe? Would probably go for the dream-elite 3 Dm800 hd as you say it's a solid image is this image a clone safe one. Thanks again

Im not sure about putting a 800se image on a 800 hd box , the images are almost the same anyway , yes make sure the image you choose is for a clone and the same sim as yours either sim 2.01 or 2.10 and the 3 images I mentioned can be for both originals and clones so make sure you choose the right one , it should say clone safe on the image.

Hi would just like to thank you for your help i have now installed the newnigma2 dm800hd 3.3.1. image a looks as if it is going ok managed to get Mgcamd working and my guide sorted so happy at the moment everything working.
