Dreambox hd800 clone intermittent tuner fail

Hi, I have recently purchased a clone dreambox hd 800, have an issue with intermittent tuner fail on fta Hd channels?? It freezes the channel. If I change channel over and then back the channel is fine? Not had this issue on premium channels only seems to be fta Hd channels? Checked signal strength which is at 93%
    No idea what problem is?
    Any help/advice greatly appreciated
    Many thanks
    Another newbie!

Faulty tuner mate, i just had my mates die on him same problems. All sd fine, only affected hd channels intermittently.

Luckily I had a spare rev l tuner. Sending the tuner back and getting it replaced.

but if this only happens on FTA, & non FTA HD channels clear OK, then it cant be the tuner, surely???
how is your box connected to the sat feed, does it also loop out to another box?

Not looped out to any other box. It may just be coincedence that it is happening on fta channels.
Worrying thing is it happens every day after a few hours viewing. Once I switch channels then switch back everything is ok??
Guy I got it from is going to have a look at it, seen a few threads on various other sites that some of the clones are prone to this. My mate bought one at the same time however his is fine!
Does not seem to be overheating and it is turned off when not in use so at a bit of a loss really.

Hi mate its the tuner im sure, i went through 3 tuners , till i got tuner that on underside at different chip type there was 3 yellow type chips and worked fine.

only all hd channels would say tune failed after few hours but all sd fine, if left off for few hours then works till again,

now using rev m tuner with yellow type chip and workd perfect

You guys were right! Changed tuner and not had this problem. Not seen any glitching on any channels either with this new tuner.
                  Thanks for advice

Hi Lombard, never checked mate. The guy I bought from took it away and replaced. Have not had any glitching issues either since tuner has been replaced. Touch wood everything is sound at minute.

it could happen after 10hours i found out, so if its ok after 2-3 days and left on hd channels , then can say its working fine

I have the same issue with mine, only the HD channels though, how easy is the tuner swap, is there tutorial available?

It's a doodle mate, remove top cover, remove rear back plate, tuner slides out to the right as you look at the box from rear, it connects like pci cards on PC 's , think there a video on YouTube , or Google for "installing hdd on dm800 " as you need to move tuner to fit hdd,

it also could be the main board, i dry joint, i had same peoblem with 2 boxes and both problems was board not tuner, sometime it works til the board gets hot, if u try a new tuner and it still not working its the board, you could try using a heat gun on it and see if it helps
