Dead box?

A friend gave me his dm800 clone to look at. He was messing around with it and says he and hit the software update option (said he didn't mean to ) and when the box rebooted he had the error no ca found.

I have tried reflashing the box but i'm getting no response from Dreamup (all versions), or the patched Dreamup using 2nd stage pack, enforcer etc or the repair tool by Yassinov.

I have taken the simcard from one of my boxes and tried that and it's still the same. No matter what i try the error message stays on, i'm out of ideas now.
Has anyone had this problem and sorted it or is this one for the bin?

If you cant repair it then cant see any one else managing that said if you`re gonna bin it then bin it my way and I have a bash at it as it gives me summat to mess around with and I like challenges.

Remove the tuner mate and then boot up, see if the message clears. Then reseat the tuner and reflash.

Can you FTP to it? As I have seen one or two with these symptoms after the same software update.

Could also be a PSU problem try your one with it. But I can guarantee you one thing it can be fixed with a bit of persistence

Tried it with and without the tuner m8, cant ftp because i can't get an ip address. Haven't thought about the PSU, that's something i will try tomorrow tho cheers mate

Ok just been having another play around and still no joy. I've tried different psu's Ethenet cables and Null modems. It's as if the box is dead yet the Screen and Ethernet lights are on. Anyone any other thoughts

If you still havent sorted it i think its down to the PSU. Try getting the one with correct voltage. Had this problem before

Does the psu power your other boxes?

i've tried a different psu and it's the same. i've also tried the psu off the broken box on another working box and it powers and boots that no problem so i don't think it's the psu. I think it's something to do with the box itself but i haven't got a clue what.

Are any of the caps swollen on the main board? and no obv signs of anything burning out?

What happens on screen with the display disattatched?

Nope nothing blown checked everything. All was ok until he meddled and hit the update option. The message is the same error no ca. It just stays at that no matter what i've tried.

if you got the message on the box lcd....then it's defo fixable...but just annoying to fix.

have you tried a different computer.....i have had this happen where it just won't do anything with one computer...but works straight away on another...even try a different null cable

Well i would have said the same a couple of weeks ago As i've said i've tried all different combinations of cables desktops and laptops etc but the software doesn't even acknowledge there's a box connected.

I assume that's what he did. He said he was looking at the menu and hit the software update option.
