to start the ball rolling, I have always used gemini project II.
always been very stable for epg/timeshift/recording/drive mapping. tried a lot of others which, for me, werent.
lately some newer images have come out which look quite nice, with better built-in plugins, but i havent tested long term...
it's probably going to be a suck it and see.

1st things 1st you need an image that is compatable with your box , if its a clone dm800 it will most probably have one of 3 types of sim , sim2 , ferrari , estar .
you should have some info displaying on the boot screen of the unit when you power it on which may indicate the sim type.
when you establish the type, then you can only use images that have been modified for that specific sim type (wrong image will temporarily brick it) .
I personally find the dreamboxuk images very good for my sim2 box running sky uk on 28e sat, you can easily update your channel settings from within it to organise and save you scanning the sat , also being pli based it runs well and is quite light-weight on memory
