DM800SE Sunray clone - Storage issues

Having serious issues with storage on this box I bought from China.
Storage worked fine on the original image - but I installed another image as some of the characters were in Chinese.
Tried several images, still unable to initialize HDD (unable to create Movie folder)
Also tried a USB stick, same error.
Current image SIM2-SSL84B-DM800SE_DreamboxUK-2.1.2-By_Sat4fun
Tried formatting the drives in ext3, same issue.
Any ideas of an image I could use so storage works?
(apart from the original, Chinese version)

How are you trying to do this, dcc works best in my experience, format the drive to fat32 using pc and try again
