I've similar problem with my dm8000 (clone) with some edg nemesis images..some of them don't seem to handle wPA/wpa2 wifi protection, some don't even handle wep (ASCII or hex). Try to disable wifi protection to see if the box is controlling the wifi card correctly..then try to protect your wifi with wep (hex) in order to figure out the best compatible option..in my opinion is a matter of image compatibility..
