    Hard drive

dm500hd trying to get external hard drive activated but will not recognise it. Searched for formatting and a lot says format to ext 3. Does any one know of any software to do this or any other method? My image is nemesis 2.6.

    cheers

Have tried that mate but my box is not even recognising it. I have set up a USB with no probs. does my hard drive need to be a certain format for it to recognise my hard drive? Have used it in my spiderbox with no faults.

        Cheers

What type of external HDD is it? And is it powered or does it get all its power from the eSATS connector? Wondering if it's a power related issue.

To be honest mate it is a cheap one, but I have used on spiderbox and as a wii hard drive and no probs. it's USB connected. Do you or anyone know of compatable hard drive for the dm 800hd?

            Cheers for reply pal!!

If it's USB connected and the drive isn't externally powered then it could be a power issue, have you tried it all the USB ports?

So is the drive wholly powered via USB? If it is then and you have a 2 headed USB cable so that the cable plugs into 2 USB ports so that the 2nd USB connection also provides power.

Apart from that can't think of much else.
