The only thing I can think of is if you have another box the same is to swap front panels and see if the box starts responding to remote commands. That will identify if it's the box or the front panel sensor that's faulty.

If it is the front panel then the only thing to do is maybe replace the sensor and hope that it's not the panel itself that's faulty.

      Hi

I had this with a friends box, remote stopped working after I think installing the hard drive. I didnt want to take off my front panel sensor so left him controlling box via dreambox control panel on his lappie.

He didnt want to pay think is was about ?14 for another sensor so left it.

Sorry cant be of any help. Let us know if you get it fixed.

      Regards

Although the sensor, display and power button/LED are on the same board it's possible that the sensor could have died. I've never heard of a bootloader causing this type of problem to be honest.

The sensor is soldered but if it wasn't soldered properly it could have come loose. I'd swap front panels over as that would quickly prove that the fault is with the front panel, you can then have a look at the panel.

RS and Farnell sell the sensor by the way.

I thought you said you had another box? If you don't then you're stuffed.

RS is Radio Spares and Farnell are a similar company, they sell electronic components, so you can order a replacement IR sensor from them but the old one will need to be removed and new soldered in, so if you can't solder then a non starter really.

Ahh, OK, understand now. You can the front panel from aliexpress but at the mo you don't know if that's going to fix the problem, so you could get it and find the remote still doesn't respond?

Didn't realise that you could get them on ebay so checked, they seem to be going for around ?29.

I've also checked on dhgate.com and they seem to going for around $14 delivered.
