    Another Crossepg problem

I am wanting to confirm if it is just me and a few other people having problems with crossepg ?

I have tried everything to get it working to no avail, and yes i understand how to set it up etc but this time it is refusing to populate the epg list, it goes through the motion then i restart the box but nothing.

Can anyone confirm if their server (open tv / rytec etc) is down or if their is an alternative epg program to use and what are people using ?

ITgate TGM220 (swapable tuner), Dreambox 800 pro, Dreambox 500c x 2, DBox, Popbox media player.

Some people have reported problems with stock CrossEPG and there are patched versions for the DM800SE around. Personally the only problem I've had is when the data files get too big. Try deleting the contents of /usb/crossepg/ rebooting and downloading again.

BTW OpenTV is not downloaded from a server, it's broadcast on the satellite itself.

Cheers guys for your input and i am now thinking it may be something to do with the image ? i was using Newnigma2 - Version 3.3.1 and crossepg was working fine up until 2 weeks so i upgraded to the newer version Newnigma2 - 3.3.2 to no avail.

What image are you using i think i may have to change even thoe i love this image but it is doing my head in not having a working epg ?

            Dreambox 800hd clone sim 201

At the mo i have re imaged, loaded plug ins one at a time etc.... and started from scratch and re - formatted the hard drive as i have been informed that it may be the hard drive and now downloading epg again and it is going through the motions and restarted the gui and still nothing.

After all that i will now try a different image and see how i get on.

On DM800 I've used an old Blackhole (DE 133 Phoenix) and a newer Rami BH 1.66 and 1.7.0, they all work OK saving to a USB stick and occasionally deleting the contents of the data folder, usually when it gets above 20 Meg.

On my Vu I use the latest Blackhole but never had a problem with CrossEPG on there although I do reboot daily before the EPG download.

Thank you all for your advice but i think i nailed it down to what it was.

On the orignal Newnigma image i was using, some how i think the hard drive may of been currupted with info from the box ie:- crash logs, epg data - ish, all of that hidden stuff and recorded and deleted programs that get stored in files somewhere.

So before that thought when the epg data did not intall automatically as per usual i thought maybe the epg was down as it has done this before in the past.

After a while i was thinking this is not right due to only a hand full of people having issues, i tried all my efforts to get it back to no avail, i decided to load the most recent newnigma image, Ts panle, crossepg and bobs your uncle like i have done in the past with no issues.

But nothing was working to get the epg back and i did all that was possible, changing setting via ftp in the guts of the box, manual selecting hard disk mount point, and the list will go on but to long to mention.

As stated earlier i also took the hard drive out to reformat, but at first Windows did not recognise it, i tried a different usb lead to no avail as that sometimes can play into effect exspecially with windows ? so i tried it on the Macbook and voila it found the drive and i formatted the drive to Fat %, plug the hard drive into the Windows laptop just to make sure it was recognised and it was, and then i put it back into the box.

Anyway after a bit of research i found that the newer version of Newnigma2 version 3.2.2 there was an issue with the image mounting the hard drive correctly ? i did peravere for a while more, trying to solve the issue with that image (Thats because i don't mind a challenge) to no avail.

I decided i would try the last trusted version of Newnigma because i like that image, and i know my way around the menues like my 2 by 2 vegetable pach :-), i went through the motions and mounted my hard drive which it found with no problem, set up the crossepg as i usually do, but making sure all settings was correct, downloaded the epg manually restarted gui and Bobs your uncle a Happy Man.

So i think in the long run it was the Hard drive that failed and needed to be reformatted, and i have read that else where but people having to re format their usb drive which is a lot easier than taking out your hard drive.

So that is my conclusion when in doubt reformat your storage drive and read the quotes what the image is capable of what it can / cannot do.

PS:- Just read Lincsat and yes i think that is correct deleting data before it gets to full.

Can you not access your storage drive ? if you can i would delete the cross epg data and try again, or like me reformat the storage drive and that should do it ?
