    DM800 HDMI SOUND PROBLEM

    Hi

I have a DM800 which is working fine I use an RF converter to send the single around the house no problem.
I went a put in a HDMI cable a few weeks ago and had picture but no sound first I thought it was a faulty cable but later found out it was a setting I had wrong, this fixed the problem then.
I am back to this point again where I have no sound as I installed a new image, can someone point me in the right direction on fixing this.

PS I think I changes something like video mode or sound AC3 but not sure.

it seems to me you have bought the incorrect hdmi adapter which is one reason this would happen

there are some adapters that do have the audio function as well as the video, and using an adapter with video and audio will definitely work when using a hdmi cable

the standard dm800 lead is not a standard hdmi as its dvi to hdmi and also incorporates the sound as well as the viideo

          Tried different audio's no go
          Image is from dreamboxUK
cable is the one that came with the box

As I said I had it working after I changed some settings in the Video & Audio settings but cannot remember what the settings were .
Any help as I sold the unit to a guy and not having it in from of me cannot picture the settings in my head.

          Thanks

well just a couple of pointers here

            1) you should have posted in the dreambox section
            2) you never said its a clone, which it must be if you used a dreamboxuk image on it
            3) you never said it was using the supplied lead that it came with, which is a special dvi to hdmi lead combining both audio and video, not a hdmi lead.
(a hdmi lead has a hdmi plug at both ends) my previous answer was on the assertion you were using a hdmi lead which would have meant buying the specialised adapter for such a lead (I have a couple of those adapters myself)

now that you have clarified some of the details it would seem that its the settings on the image, which you seem to have changed on the scart side in order to use that video converter you mentioned

not owning a clone and never used a dreambox uk image I cannot say what those settings were, but feel you would get a better response had you posted in the dreambox forum here instead of in the general satellite section

            EDIT

see its been moved here for you now by a mod or admin

just checked my original dm800 running BH and these are my A/V settings

            video output - DVI
            Mode - 1080i
            Refresh rate - 50hz
            4:3 - just scale
            16:9 - letterbox
            ac3 default - YES
            AC3 Downmix - YES

            hope that helps
