SD working, HD 'Tuner Failed', Help!

    Hello

Ive got an issue with HD channels...

For SD channels, it works perfectly, 100% signal, but any HD channel and I get a 'tuner failed' message.

It is intermittent, but more in a not working state than working.

    I have a DM800 with BSBE2-401A tuner and SIM 201

Has anyone had this before, or knows what the issue might be?

      Thanks for the welcome chic...

No splitters, only an amplifier, straight from wall.

All was working well until recently.... I should have also mentioned that the box was very hot in this recent weather, and I unplugged it and stuck in front of a fan to cool down. It didn't fix it, same issue.

          Hi Cunny,

SD signal reaches 100% hovers on 99%. HD signal is 0%

Coax is direct from wall with amp in-line, all screwed in neatly.

          Using flipflops latest 14.8.12 list.

          Thanks for your help.

              Reloaded 14.8.12 with DreamboxEdit.

              No change.

Out of interest, does it need a reboot with every channel refresh? [normally I don't as the new list appears right away]

Again, thanks for your help in troubleshooting, appreciated.

Reboot box or restart enigma. See heat signal strength is without amp

                  Restarted box, removed amp.

                  Signal on SD = 75% - 100%

                  Signal on HD = 0%

                  This is very strange..

                  Any other thoughts?

                  Thanks

Sounds like a problem Tuner although you are already on the revision M series there is also a BSBE2-801A version as well, is it possible you have a spare tuner card or know someone you could try theres.

I think I'm going to have to conclude that it is the tuner that is on its way out.

I have a SIM201 Bootloader 7* [cant remember which exactly], would this tuner work with it? Alps REV M BSBE2-801A

Bearing in mind that it currently has a 401A tuner inside.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

p.s any store recommendations wouldn't go astray either.

Bootloader doesnt matter you can always update that, its sim you cant update , but it being sim 2.01 you can use any latest image, and yes a rev m tuner will work,

                          Thanks

I've had the exact same problem with my tuner but with an additional problem, my SD channels don't work either. They work sometimes and when I go on my HD channels, SD don't work no longer. Tuner sometime shows "noting" in tuner configuration. How do you check which boot loader and sim you have? Would it be advisable I buy the same tuner or just a new box?

                            Edit: I'm on sim 2.0.1, dreamElite 1.33d v3. BSBE2-401A - 030112G

Any recommendations on which image I should use, as I'd like to reinstall the image before I buy a new box/tuner.

                            Thanks

I found out the issue with my tuner. I had lost DVB-S2 signal. That explained why I could only get SD chans, as the bulk of HD chans are on S2.

So I took out the tuner and had a look at it, to find a capacitor had burst.

So I bought a 1000uF 16V capacitor 105C from Maplins for 49p and soldered it on...

I decided to let it overhang the tuner this time to give it more air, in the hope of keeping it cooler.

Put it all back together and DVB-S2 was back on and running!
