My SNR drops to 60 - 65 % on HD channels from 80 - 85 % on other channels. Is this normal ? I have a DM800HDse with an 80cm dish. Do i need a different LNB to improve signal ?
loss of SNR on HD ?

I am in UK. Getting 98% for Channel 5 from Astra 1N but it is not HD. Don't have an option to pick the HD channel on Astra 1N.Comment

I have similar issues to the poster. My location similar to yourself (Bolton,North west)
Snr: Channel 5 HD on astra 1n 60-61%. Would you say this is a dish alignement problem? I dont have many problems with break-ups of signals except in server heavy storms ( like yesterday). Your comments would be appreciated.Comment

the heavy storms we had yesterday reduced my signal by 5db and caused break up on the viasat nordic beams... it really depends on the rain margin you have on your set up. im getting 67% sq on a zone2 fixed on 19.2e with my octo lnb set at a 9 degree off-set for 28.2e. channel 5hd is on astra 2a southern europe beam and as such isnt as strong as 1n which has a uk spotbeam. although a zone1 is fine for all but the heaviest of storms id always go a little bigger if funds allow with a triax td54 or a zone2 for extra rain fade margin, so seeing as your using a 80cm dish it could be slightly out although im only getting 90% on my 1.25m gibby with matched feedhorn and inverto black pro.regards mdtLast edited by mdt; 26 August, 2012, 21:36.DM800HDSE SIM 2.10.
