Dreambox 800hd se - can't find hotbird channels

Hi everyone,

I posted in this thread as I have a similar problem.

Basically, my block has installed a satellite which has hotbird and Sky UK. I have scanned a number of times using different settings but can only find the Sky channels and not hotbird. It even says hotbird but they are defo the Sky channels.

I should also mention that I have tried an old receiver that I had and that can pick up hotbird!?

I believe it is something to do with the diseqc settings but as a newbie have no idea what they shoud be.

go into the satalitte(scan) settings of your box and set it to multi lnb and set it to 28.2e for astra and the second lnb to 13.0e hotbird assuming the dish has a multi lnb as im pretty sure it wont be a motorised dish you have in your block

I have tried scanning so many times and just can't find any hotbird channels! Are there any other settings that I may be overlooking?

I should also mention that for some reason it does say hotbird (in the channel info at bottom of screen) when flicking through all of the sky/Astra channels!?

Totally confused! Anyone with any ideas?? I have gone to Satfinder and if I flick between Hotbird and Astra the SNR and AGC are Identical at 82% and 38%. If I change from manual transponder to predefined on Hotbird the SNR jumps all over the place from 0 - 80 but doesnt get a lock!? Anyone?

Sounds like your dish is not in linement with 13e hotbird as long as you are using a live transponder

try using 28.2e as dis aa and hotbird as dis ab or vica/versa. if your picking up hotbird with a global star then look at the lnb/diseqc settings and replicate them on the dm800,regards mdt

have u tryed changing the settings simple or advanced option i had problems pickin up sly uk in the advanced settings on one of my boxes

Update: Thought I had tried everything but then went back from advanced to simple and swapped Hotbird and Astra around and it worked

Now I have a new problem... Previously all the channels on Astra would work as normal, changing channels would be instant etc..

Now I am getting a lot of "tune failed" messages and then have to wait 10-20 seconds for the channel to appear!? Anyone know what is causing this? Just to repeat, this has only started happening since I found the hotbird channels.
