Make your mobile phone a hotspot and connect the box to that via wifi? Wifi tethering in other words.

Or, use a router with 3g capability like a TP-Link MR 3420 with a USB modem.

This assumes your 12V supply will power these OK?

You could also try an inverter to convert 12V to 240V.

The post below may be of use to you ...

Get a microSIM from T-Mobile, Top up ?10 and get 12 months free internet. Only works with the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S - Hot UK Deals

hi m8 i wouldnt use t-mobile, their internet doesnt work well with these boxes, use 3 internet and you can get sims that last 3months of ebay for ?13, these boxes use more less nothing, but u might need to have a laptop running and dwnloading or uploading say a mp3 torrent at 1kb or u will probley get breakups evey 30 sec, like DMBOOT said get a inverter ther about ?10er on ebay, a 150w or 350watt inverter will do fine

Hi DM Thanks for your reply but on the "MR3420 with a USB modem" excuse my ignorance but should this not be USB dongle only if I've read the description correct it says the 3420 is a modem. As you can tell I'm a complete novice at all this and really appreciate your help/advice. I'm not so keen to use an inverter by the way as most of these things seem to work on 5 or 12 volts so it seems counter productive to convert 12 volts to 240 and then run 5/12 volt items!!! Very many thanks

The MR3420 is a router only. There is no built in modem. You need a USB modem into which you put a sim card and this is how the MR3420 connects to the internet.

I only take my motorhome abroad, so I haven't actually tried this, but in theory it should work. If I get the chance I will try it out, but on 240v.

I imagine a TV, DM800 and a router would make a dent in the leisure battery. I only ever go with hookup myself.

OK, so I gave this a go.

            I have the following.

            TP-Link MR3420

ZTE 627 usb modem - actually a "3" modem unlocked to allow the use of any sim, not just "3" sims. See Unlock your ZTE 627 Mobile Broadband Dongle (the free one from MicroP) for FREE! - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums

A T-Mobile sim card - same as the one is this link

I configured the MR3420 3G setting to use T-Mobile in the UK and clicked connect. It took a while, but eventually connected.

Plugged the DM800SE into the MR3420 and it performed as expected using the ZTE 627 with the T-Mobile sim inside to connect to the internet.

Note that my DM800 does not have a wifi connection so I have to have a wired connection. This would be best for me abroad as the MR3420 would not have the same overheads as wifi tethering off a smart phone which would eat data.

If you have wifi on your DM800, you could wifi tether from your mobile phone hot spot as you wouldn't be data roaming in the UK. You then would not need a router. You could even use an old smart phone with the T-Mobile sim above.
