    shorted out tuner

hi, i put my wire from lnb into box and when box loaded up, it came up tuner failed, i unscrew the cable again and looked at it and the little strand wires were touching the centre wire, i tryed a different tuner in it and still dnt work, so must have blown a fuse or cap on the board, does any one no what cap or what the fault could be
    Thanks

That shouldn't have blown the tuner, should it? If the plug had a wire touching have you checked the other end?

it didnt blow the tuner, it has blown the main board, when i was screwing the f connector onto box the cable came loose andd i pushed it back in, and it must have made the strands move and touch, i tryed the tuner in a different box and it works and tryed different tuner in box i short out, i will take board out ad have a look under it, all looks ok on bit i can see, if i do a scan, the % will go up to 100% just like its scanning channels but it finds none at all.

ok just took board out, it looks ok under it to, so no signs of any thing wrong, but something is blown

Did you try a reflash of the box?

this is one of them boxes, i sent the tuners back, but before i did i use a hair dryer on 1 and it went from 480 to 560 channels, i had lend out my hot air gun so cudnt use that, but if u have a tuner failed you shud give it a try, i still have a tuner about, once i get the hot air gun back i will try it, looks like im goin to have to send board back to

I still don't think that a short at the feed would cause the tuner or main board to blow?

if its your fault that the board shorted out they are unlikely to replace it FOC
