crossover cable dm800 HD PVR

guys, my db dm800 hd pvr is giving an error "no ca found", i don't have a serial cable, can i connect via crossover cable? when i plug it in and run dreamUp on my laptop i find nothing .... please help

you will need a null modem cable with female connections
on both ends like this one

thanks Benny, but there is no port to plug this cable on my laptop

Search on Ebay for 'rs232 to usb' make sure you select the right cable and get a windows 7 compatible one.

Or you could use a really old PC if you have one around.

On a seperate note, I would personally sell the DM800 and get a DM800se as they are far better, quiet, no overheating and much more stable in my opinion.

have you tried using your internet browser un plug the box and hold down the power button till you get the ip address this may take a few trys but make sure you box is direct connect to your router and when you get it type in the address into your internet browser and you should get a dream box screen and your option flash the box best of luck keep us posted
