    Problem with new hard drive

Just got a samsung 500gb hd for my dm800hdse and its the one where you just open it up then basically just slide it in up to the connectors.

Now i turned the box on and it freezes on startup? I now thought it maybe something to do with the firmware as i got a new hd but its not, so i took the drive out and set it up on my pc and for some reason the pc is not seeing it now under my computer?

im i doing everthing right here ??

Be careful just sliding it in. The backplane that fits into the main board is pretty flimsy and easily broken. I would suggest taking the bracket out and fitting the hdd properly before reinsterting and not just sliding it in.

If you tried to boot with it in and the box froze then took it out was it OK? If yes then goto conclusion.

Had you managed to format it in the box at all? If so then this may be why you PC will no longer see it. It could be NFS.

    Conclusion:
If not then the fact that installing it freezes your STB and your PC won't see it would seem to indicate that the drive is DOA. Send it back for a new one.

Just try to prepare hdd (i mean partitioning) with your computer, format partitions, then put into tuner and flash multiboot to start partition/disc/usb you want.
