How do you know which skins will work?

I am using nemesis image on sr4 dm800hd se, almost every skin I try to install from tspanel causes a continual boot loop GSOD crash. maybe 1 in every 20 actually work. but there is no way to know which will work, is there?

if anybody can advise, please do so, as I am getting a little tired of having to keep re-imaging the entire thing just beacuse I picked an incompatible skin...

and why the enima2 system is designed so poorly that something so simple as just changing a skin crashes the entire system is beyond me..

I did try Googling things like "nemesis skins" and similar such terms and all I get are a very few random skins on various forums which all require membership even to just preview the jpegs, let alone download them, not exactly a nice list with previews as the tspanel offers.

so, anybody have some suggestions of where I can get some skins that will NOT crash my box?

    much appreciated

EDIT: this is getting ridiculous now, I downloaded a skin from tspanel addons section, in the name of the skin it says "FOR NEMESIS" and STILL it makes my box keep boot looping in a crash.. if anybody can help me with this nightmare, please do so, this thing is killing me.. >.<

Mate im having a similar problem im thinking maybe the problem lies with the skin taking up space on the internal flash, if theres a way to save the skin to your hdd then i rekon it could be the fix then iagain i am a novice so someone must knoe whats the fix. Ive been desperate for a new skin for a while im on PLI and tried a so called compatible Lava Skin which looked the biz! reboot = green screen crash
    soooooo frustrating

I thought of this also, which is why I install them only after I have imaged it, one at a time.
Internal flash memory has has 7.02mb free on nemesis image, after install a (one) skin it usually has about 5mb free on internal flash, more than enough for basic operations.

It only happens on some incompatible skins.

I can tell you so far, from trial and error these skins work, from TunisiaSat Dreambox Addons:

      skin-dmconcinnity-hd-sr-mod_1.3.2_all
      Skin-dmm-default-hd_2.0
      Skin-elgato-hd_nemesis21
      skin_army_gradiant_v2.2_for_all_nemesis
      skin-evil-nemesis_2.2

though none of them I really like, I find personal faults with all of them... (like, menu stopping at the top, not looping around when you press up at the top of a list, things like this..)

        re-skins

Instead of reflashing your box all the time when wrong skin is installed, just open dcc and ftp usr/share/enigma2 and delete the skin you have just installed.

(Box is still connected to network when it goes into the booting loop).

ah fantastic, I didn't know it was still available to FTP to during this phase, thanks, that's really helpful, I'll give it a try next time it breaks.
