Completely screwed my DM800 HD PVR box

    Hi Folks

I just recently acquired a DM800 HD PVR satelitte box, coming from a cable d-box and starview 7 previously.

Please help, I was unable to access some of the premium channels and I was receiving an error 'cannot parse the emu' on my openpli image for the DM800 box.

After trying numerous things I decided to try a new image from here. A newer image from OpenPLI but was unable to load the firmware successfully. When I accessed the image using the web browser, I loaded the firmware but received a message when attempted to load this image ''invalid image (or old version)' and I tried this with a few images but to no avail.

In the end I decided to try a generic dreambox image (to see if i could load a general image'. I didnt get the invalid error anymore but once it has loaded and the box rebooted I then received a error on the box erro01 no CA found.

I have learnt that now because I cannot access the box via IP I need a null serial cable which I have ordered, use the null cable to reload the image which I can do but how do I know which image to load?

Could it be because I am using a clone box? how do I know if I am using a clone box? I can see a serial no on my box, can I check this somehow?

Any help on this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

Might be a sticker underneath saying sim 2 or when the box boots up it will tell you on the oled screen. Most boxes are either sim 2 or ferrari . The no ca found is caused by trying to flash the box with the incorrect image for the box,ie sim2 image on a ferrari box and visa versa .Incorrect bootloader.
When you get your cable just use dreamup and try and flash with image which matches the sim to your box. Most images are clone safe but make sure its correct. Might take you a few attempts but patience is the key and try to do it from an old desktop pc with windows xp the adapters you Get for laptops aren't great.
Lots of threads on no ca found if you search the forum.

Thanks for that, yes I can confirm it is a sim2 box. I am guessing card sharing would have been setup somehow as I had all the 28.2 sky channels. Would these all be lost even I upload a new image?

If you can ftp to the old image and take anything off you need thats the best way. Flashing will erase everything im afraid unless you know the details which you require. Can't say to much more or will breach the forum rules on that subject but flashing and setting up ccam is ok.

I have a copy of the flash, before I loaded a new image. Will that help me? Its just one file called flash. I think it did say something like its only for debugg purposes.

You would have lost all details (config files needed) as that would not have been saved.

Install latest image for your clone receiver and contact who you bought it from

              Hi

The Null Cable has now come. When its connected using a USB to Serial converter it picks it up as COM8.

              I have a few questions:
I have tried to use the NULL Cable for both OptiFlasher and Dreamup but still get the CA error message.

How do I know which bootloader I can use on my box, how would I find out if its a genuine or clone product, if I unscrew the casing, would that tell me?

I believe it is a sim2 product, as when it was working I remember it saying when loading up on the LCD screen something about SIM2.

Is there a dummies guide somewhere which I can follow which will guide me through how I can restore the box using the above tools?

Do i need to connect a crossover cable from my laptop to the dreambox or can I plug in directly via my router? but I dont know what IP address my dreambox would be getting.

              Many Thanks

Which ever one I try it just doesnt work. Not sure if this is relevant but I get the ERRO1 no CA found as soon as switch on the box, no specific power button presses makes any differnece.

I hear on other forums that the CA fault can be at the second stage? exactly what does it mean. Is mine broken at the first stage because i get the error message 1/2 seconds after I turn on?

Basically the issue I get when using all the tools to my disposal are:

                  - no network connection
                  - DreamUp unable to pick up the dreambox even with serial cable

Please help, been working on this all afternoon and not making any progress :-(

Something else I have pickedup on.

Another thing when I try to run the latest version of Dreambox Optiflasher Pro v2. Even though it picks up my COM connection and I have a crossover cable plugged in from laptop to Box, it still says

                    Status: Disconnected.

Try and do what Reaper has told you and use a desktop pc.
Any image with sim 2 sim2.01 will be fine.
Patience is the key dont expect it to work first time it rarely does.

Ok thanks will try a desktop PC.

just one question though is it normal for the network lights to be on all the time even without a network cable plugged in on the dreambox? As soon as the box is switched on without anything else plugged in I am getting the yellow/orange lights just constantly on.

I haven't got a dodgy box have i? I thought it may be to do with power so swopped for another eight figure lead but still the same issue.

                        Thanks
