Update old DM800HD PVR

Hello I have an old DM800HD PVR Clone not used for a while but it works good and I was thinking of updating it to a newer image. I have problems when I install plugins and stuff.
They are not showing up after I install them (some works)
Anyway the image I have now is Enigma2 from 2009-12-24 so its very old I think. I do not not what sim I have and have no sticker under the box to show it.
It is white and I see nothing on it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of updating it to latest enigma

I used to have the new enigma image and same thing lots of plugin problems, so I updated to the latest new enigma image and it was very very buggy, my friend had the same problems too, so the new new enigma is buggy.

Try the open PLi image it is great!!!
Currently I have the dreambox uk image with the Open PLi skin on and this image is rock solid, I haven't experienced any problems with it.

Ok. That sounds Good. But I wanted some help on how to update it. Because it is so old I belive there is a lot I should to to update it. Bootloader, SIM, and so on . Please help me to a guide or so on how to update this old box.

your box will maybe have the original sim if so you will not be able to use the current images for sim 2not sure if you can upgrade to a sim 2,but you can upgrade the to a ferrari sim to use current images

That sounds great. is there a guide for that? and how do I know what sim I have?

also wonder How to update bootloader. Is there a way to get latest BL with my box?

Your correct about being cautious mate, older box may have old 69 boot loader, can't remember the exact details but think you need to install a 72 b-l image after 69, the sim2 team are at dreamoem dot com and may be able to advise you more, don't go flashing a Ferrari image mate as sim2 cannot be updated/downgraded to Ferrari , good luck an sorry I can't be any more helpful, memory gets a bit hazy at my time of life

Ok thanks. I have telnet to box and used command "ipkg list | grep second"

It says "dreambox-secondstage - 75-r0 -

But when I power down the 800 and press and hold standyby button then power up the bootloader version shows

BOOT #72(20090303)

What to think of this?
What BL do I have

I remember that I did alot with the box but that was then and now is now

I would go with 76a,b or c next as this came out shortly after 75 and was significant in it allowed genuine images to be used

sometimes I hate to rush into things.
Already tried updating sim to ferrari sim. after I run the plugin in the update image it was still for 20min and then screen flashed lake crasy. tried to flash ferrari image and now no ca found.
I think that the sim was not updated as it may not be a "Sim 1.0 (T1)" from ferrari team
How to fix this?

Edit: What BL do I have? Telnet says BL75 and LCD says BL72

If I get the box running should I flash the image that I used to have first

I have found out that I have sim1 t5 NOT compatible with Ferrari upgrade.


Have asked some questions at 8a8f8.com but I am not really sure I get an honest answer there. seems like "someone" is anxious to sell smart card programmers

you now need to find the "no ca error" fix thread, search this forum, its all here
as for what b/l you have, I have no idea now as not sure what the "upgrader" from Ferrari team does, you did have 75 before you did that and my post above outlined how to update to latest

Ok thanks but did you see that I have found out that i have sim1 (T5) not 2.0 Than I cannot update to the images you said right?

And whay is telnet saing BL75 and LCD BL72???

What do you mean.

Telnet to box and the command I used see earlier in thread.

And lcd i mean when starting box and holding in powerbutton BL shows for a while in the little dreambox lcd window

Of course im sorry I did not find this out before I tried to make ferrari sim
I have seen a photo that looks exactly like my sim and it is a sim1 (t5)

Bought the wrong cable today normal rs232. Im going to buy null cable tomorrow and try to fix it. then I will try to flash image for sim1 and try newer and newer images with newer bootloaders until It does not work anymore

you said box had 72 or 75 b/l so assumed it was sim2.01, as sim1 didn't go that high if I remember correctly, if it is old sim1 you aint gonna get it to work with latest images as its no longer supported,
your gonna have to flash a 69b/l image and go from there one step at a time mate

Hello again. Box is fixed now.

But I am still curious about one thing.

I am using Image "Gemini-5.1-OE1.6-dm800-SSL70_TSv2"
It is for sim1
It is patched by Toysoft at 8a8f8.com

Now LCD in DMwindow shows BL70
and if I telnet to it and uses command "ipkg list | grep second"
