Wireless usb / HDD conflict problem

Hoping someone can help me with regards odd issues I'm having.

I have clone 800se, running Open Pli OE1.6. I have HDD internally and it works absolutely fine. I bought USB wi-fi dongle to save me having to have it hardwired all through the house and I managed to get this also working.

Problem is, when the Wi-fi dongle is attached and I hit PVR to access my HDD listings, the hard-drive (or receiver) freezes and I get the cogs turning forever and have to switch off receiver. When this is happening, I can hear the HDD making very quiet clicking sound like its on a 'repeat' and isnt running. If I was to remove the Wi-fi USB...this problem disappears entirely.

Can anyone enlighten me on why this conflict might be happening and if theres anyway around it as I'd prefer to use wi-fi if poss.

    cheers lads for any help!!!

possibly a power issue mate, maybe the psu isn't able to supply enough juice for both to run simultaneously , you got a spare psu you could try ,

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I dont have replacement parts for the receiver in question.

Has suspected it was some kinda power / wiring issue as I believe from having the receiver opened that the usb ports on the 800se are very close to the power cables for the HDD.

Not a worry, can live with it hardwired if it means HDD availability.
