    Problem streaming large MKV files

    Hi Guys

I've got a DM800se clone and she's working pretty well so far. The model I have has an inbuilt wifi adapter and so far seems to be doing the job.

Last night I mounted CIFS drives on my windows Media PC and I have a large amount of HD Movies and HD TV in mkv format. Now, it seems to play some of the smaller MKV files (HD TV episodes about 1GB) ok, however if I try and stream some MKV movies (4GB or larger) it spits the dummy out and starts to perform like an asthmatic ant.

As a test I connected DM800se by Ethernet and did the same tests. Once again - fine with smaller MKV files, but doesn't like a lot of the larger files. I thought it was just the stream traffic that might have been causing the bottleneck, but maybe the internal memory of the DM can't handle this?

The odd thing is that I've got PVR setup to record using Wifi to a shared drive on same machine and playback of these files (through the DM800) is faultless, and some of the recordings take up a lot of space. Maybe it's just not got enough oomph under the hood to process the larger files encoded with MKV?

    Any ideas anyone?
The reason I want to get this working is that I'll eventually move this DM800 upstairs to my bedroom and would like the ability to stream from my Media PC as well as watch TV

I'm doing well solving my own problems.

Tried putting MKV file onto USB storage and still the same problem with Large MKV files - so I know it's not WiFi or Ethernet speed problem.

Found this last night - Problem with movies - Dm800se OpenPLi 2.1 - [EN] Enduser support - Forums

Exactly the same problem. So this morning, I change AC3 /DTS downmix to No. Tried playing large MKV files over USB - works, tried with WiFi - works.

They have no sound though, so need to connect optical out of DM800se into amplifier and Bingo - Sound as well as stutter free picture.
