to rewind a programme your watching so you can record from the earliest moment the timeshift will go back too?

Sometimes when viewing programmes every now and again something interesting may be discussed like on the news and I would like to be able to rewind using timeshift or if there is anything else and record. What happens when I try this is that it just records what's currently live instead of what I'm currently viewing.

I believe there is a setting in PTS to do that, although it's been a while since I looked at them.
