Cannot record CBBC :(

95% of the time any show I program in to record on the CBBC channel fails to record.


When reviewing what was recorded, it's either 1 second in duration then ends, or 5 minutes then ends, even though the timer is set for 30 mins or more on some programs.


Is it because this is a temporary hours channel (not 24 hours, just 7am-7pm)?


If I switch channel to CBBC manually, and press record, it will record the show without fail, but anything pre-programmed into the timer to record for the next day fails.


I'm having to use my ole faithful starview box to record this channel which is a tad frustrating having so many things plugged in...


Anybody know why this might be happening?

I have noticed this on other channels also. Some times of the day when wathcing a channel, the signal would appear to drop completely, the picture freezes and says "no tuner available" or something. But if I switch channels, then go back to that channel, the picture is fine agian.. for an hour or so, then happens again.

This only seems to happen during the daytime, never during the night time, strange don't you think, considering I have 95% signal quality at the time these things happen, and it's always on the same channels it happens, not all of them. (and not channels on the same frequency either).

Well if anybody reads this (doubtful?) and has some suggestions why channels appear to be dying during the day even though the signal strength is high, please let me know,

I had the same bloody problem even changed the bloody lnb still get the same thing freeze on bbc channles when recording in morning.

this problem still exists, and because of this I cannot watch anything from cbbc as the shows I want to see are on during work hours.

some days I have been home during a record time, I watch it say "changed channel to start a recordging" ok fine.. it starts to record, then says tuner failed, I check the signal status, it has no lock. so I stop recording, change channels, change back to cbbc, and it works again for me to manually start recording.

this makes absolutely no sense at all.

if anybody has some suggestions it would be most appreciated, as I would like to watch cbbc again please.

try different boughets also try another hard drive.

or if you have a another tuner try that.

bbc1 one freezes on my box but sometimes only freezes after about 20 mins into recording .

what's your tuners signal when not recording??

I am not using any hdd, I record direct to the NAS, and I've tried so many different images, even very new ones with the latest everything installed on them, problem seems more hardware related I don't know..

This box only has 1x DVBS input, if this is what you mean by a different tuner.

picture quality while recording or not seems the same, as I say sometimes I am at home and watching live (like weekends for example) and it will just stop with "tune failed" error popup, changing channels then back again to cbbc makes it come back, not sure why or what this does as it looks fine picture quality while watching live until it suddenly just dies for no apparent reason, and this is likely the cause of why my records are failing as they all start, but never last more than a minute or two.

I did already pay for professional engineer to come and re-align my dish checking signal quality and it boosted up a lot after his change, before this even bad weather would stop channels but now it's fine in all weather conditions, but this problem only with CBBC remains, ALL other channels play and record without any signal dropping.. very odd and frustrating
Maybe I need to get another professional to take a look at my dish, or buy a new dish/lnb and get them to install.
