CrossEPG keeps adding deleted channels back! >.<

Can somebody explain to me with crossEPG, every time it downloads the programme info it adds back in deleted channels?
In fact, i've manually deleted ALL channels, and imported my own custom list using DreamEdit, but still it keeps adding these channels! how is this even possible?
mostly, channel 4 +1 (5 copies of the same channel!) and every variation on the spelling E4 (e4, E4+1, e4+1 etc...)

It's frustrating because each time a show gets added to the record list it saves it 4 or more times onto my storage, which rapidly runs out of space due to this stupid bug.

If anybody knows why this is happening and can suggest a way I can fix this please let me know,

    thanks

UPDATE: for those who ever experience this, or if I forget how I resolved it, the cause was dreamboxEDIT, even though you delete the channels and save the new channels profile, there were 2 other files in the folder which still contained some of the previously deleted channels:

    lamedb_bak
    lamedb_org

after deleting these 2 files from the folder where my channels profile was saved, I cleared all channels from my list and re-imported from dreambox EDIT, now there are no more duplicates, so I don't have to keep deleting all the +1 recorded shows any more.

This mostly only an issue for anybody using autotimer to record their favourite series.

EDIT: this has not resolved the problem either

I was incorrect... I am still struggling with this problem since I first bought the box almost a YEAR AGO!

Please can anybody help me understand why deleted channels keep coming back, it's causing a huge issue for me when setting things to record as it records multiple times duplicating the show on my storage media wasting large amount of space.

It's something to do with crossepg, I'm sure of it, as the problem ONLY occurs after I add this in, set it to auto download and reboot at a specific time of the day (like 4am or something when I'm not using it).

I don't know if people are still reading this forum or not, but if anybody can see this and has some suggestions please let me know.

Or, is there an alternative to crossepg that I can use to get my EPG populated? maybe this will resolve the problem.

      much appreciated, thanks.

          Hi Digicon,

thanks for the suggestion, I have tried on Nemesis2.6 and iCVS v3.2.2 and both have this problem, but I will try some other images.

As I say, there is no problem removing the duplicate channels that are picked up from the scan on Astra 28.2e, they don't re-appear themselves, it's only after I have installed crossepg and schedule the automatic update going, some time within the next 24 to 48 hours the duplicate chanels (or in fact any I removed) come back automatically.
Funny thing is, if I do a manual update then reboot, the channels don't change, it's only after it does an automatic update that this happens.

I am using an DM800 HD SE SR4.

Are you using the Autobouquet maker and i would also suggest that you try an earlier release of crossepg assuming that you have the latest build installed just to rule out any bug problems in crossepg itself.

Also are you using the Rytec server or OpenTV to download the Crossepg data

I am now trying out a new image never used before, called DDD (demonisat), specifically "Sim2-DDD-dm800SE-OE1-6-v2-9-SR4-84b.riyad66" (newer versions of DDD don't seem to work on my box)

I am using Crossepg_0.6.2+git284+b5a37c-r0 installed from the TSpanel TunisiaSat list, I don't know how to get an older version installed this is the only one listed, with XEPGDB : Rytek UK XMLTV (XEPGDB repacked) as it's the only one which works, all others (opentv etc..) just hang half way through downloading, on any image.

When I say "the channels come back", I don't mean they appear in my bouquet's, I mean they reappear in the FTA channels list, which autotimers scans and adds recordings from (as well as bouqets), so I get duplicate records if there are duplicate channels listed anywhere.

The problem is hard to replicate, after manual download of EPG the channels have not changed, no duplicates added.
So I set a automatic download for a few minutes time, waited, it started automatically and rebooted the box, again, no duplicates added.
But I'm 99% sure in the next few days those channels will come back, like they have done on other images, but maybe not, it's hard to know without finding the fault as the other images were fine for the first day or 2, its only after a few days these channels start sneaking back into my FTA list

my crossepg is configured as such:

Yep, just as I expected, all my edited channels have been reset again!!! Adding back all the duplicate channel 4's, that are picked up when you do an initial scan on 28.2e (which I am not doing, its happening automatically) these ones re-appearing amongst other channels that I have also removed (all the +1 channels for example, are not required for a PVR).

I wonder, Is there some way I can make the channels database file read only/locked or something, so NOTHING can modify my channels list?
Or is there some logs or a way I can find out what is changing my channels list without my authorization?

And why does it happen every few days, and not immediately or within 24 hours?

                It happens on any image I try, and the only addons I install are (if not already installed);
                AutoTimer
                CrossEPG
                Gemini (blue panel)
                TsPanel

If anybody has some more suggestions how I can resolve this once and for all, I would be forever greatful.

since llraizer knocked up the plugin "autobouquet" I struggle to understand why anybody bothers with DBE on 28e
delete your list, install autobouquet, tell it your location for regional channels and be done with it , much simpler than messing about with dbe, if any channel delete`s are necessary just use the remote on dreambox

Well that's the thing, I do delete the chanels list and only use my custom bouquet for my local channels, but they re-appear again in the FTA list automatically.
Even if I don't use the services FTA list, recorded shows will still be added from channels listed here.

I am happy to install this autobouquet addon to see if this can resolve the problem, but how do I download and install it?
Is it listed in the TSPanel addons list under something or do I need to download the zip from somewhere, uncompress and copy the folder to the box via ftp? (or is there an ipk or whatever file to install from file manager?)

This problem still exists, what is odd though, even If I read the channels to a new project in either DreamSet or Dreambox Edit, the duplicate channels (usually channel 4 and channel 4+1 6 times each.. see above) do NOT appear, it doesn't see them listed at all, and yet on the FTA channe list they are there.

Does anybody know why this happens? I know the channel data (lamedb file) is stored in /etc/enigma2 but I have read this file in programmers notepad, there are NO duplicate channels listed in that file, so it must be writing this channel data somewhere else on the box.

Please if anybody knows what other location the channels are stored into so I can delete or lock down this file to stop the duplicates being auto-added in, let me know, as this issue is mucking up all my records.
(or if you know how to stop or disable channels being automatically added to your FTA list, please tell info)

as mentioned before, I can't just use bouquet's as autotimer scans all channels to record shows on, not just your favourites.

                        thanks

disconnect your usb peg and hard drive. Bit of a stab but could it be some backup file you have on one of the drives that has some script on it?
Worth a go, seems odd your getting this same result with different images.

Thinking about that you need whichever drive you aim your epg data at connected. Haha

So maybe have a look for any backups that you haven't created and remove them

Hey numbers guy, thanks for the suggestion but I don't use any internal or external memory, everything gets recorded (and crossepg data) to my NAS, where I have deleted many times the crossepg data (every time before I try a new image at least).

The problem is not instant, after pushing on a new image and uploading my custom channels lists it appears fine, but gradually over the course of a few weeks the duplicates start to come back in batches, it's really bizarre and totally cripples my ability to record shows on channels which have dupes, like the multitudes of bbc and channel 4
