dosnt work for me so i changed to xepgdb providers, all ok now

never bothered with the open ones mate, didn't like it zapping to radio , stick with the online providers

hi m8 i had a problem downloading sky uk with crossepg i could download 13.0e/19.2e but not 28.2e i udated xepgdb providers then
i downloaded rytec uk.xepgdb and it worked a treat

i found the problem was channel list from Vhannibal multi dated 9.7 .13 for some reason
downloaded list from tspanel just to try cross epg worked fine
so i just downloaded val new multi list sorted to my liking ,,
then all is now working ok
something must have been wrong in previous list........

Hi All.

Sorry to continue this a few months on, but I have the same problem.

I'm getting by with a xepgdb download of Rytec UK, but it populates extended data in an EPG view, which makes CoolTVGuide look very cluttered.

After all the recent frequency changes on 28.2 I have xepgdb back to 95% of the channels with epg data (no issues there, very happy), but its just the data that gets viewed with xepgdb or any of the online downloadable ones is very verbose, where opentv on 28.2 was great at showing only title data in the main epg view, and the extended stuff was correctly in its own separate displayable box.

I have two questions:

1. Any pointers as to why opentv always displays '0' channel count, after a download and no epg data, and very small epg.dat (I've deleted the epg.dat and crossepg folder).

2. Should xepgdb, display loads of data in a EPG view, or is there a way to display just short descriptions / headers / titles, etc.

I've been into most of the .pyo and .po files looking for an answer, so please be as technical as you like with any suggestions, I could attempt a fix by editing either the skin or cooltv and then the default epg's xml files to fudge the displayed view, but would rather fix why opentv at 28.2 has stopped working.

yes mate, goto epg configure, then update rytec providers, next enable new rytec uk xmltv and enjoy, hope thats all correct as i am not near my sat box just now

you will see here (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...epg-uk-378468/) the XEPGDB for UK (and many other countries) are now all offline with no news if/when they will ever return.

your only options now are OpenTV or XMLTV, if you can get any of them to work.

XMLTV works fine an will give you the full 7 day EPG back just download from your plugin section

curious why you mention from the plugin page as i too had issues with xmltv and cross,now to see how long it lasts for as i see 7 days of info now but tomorrow is another day?

thank you digicon! I picked XMLTV UK and downloaded from the plugin menu, this way works, not sure why it doesn't work from the plugin itself choosing download.

XMLTV is a lot slower at parsing the data than XEPGDB (fastest) or OpenTV, but at least it works and now I have series/episode numbers back agian, yay! (and show categories!)

I'll try with a better/newer image than my current Nemesis image last updated over a year ago, hopefully the same process works on other images also.

Tried on the wonderful Merlin-3 image, it downloads and parses the XMLTV data, but nothing appears in the epg, no listings.
Tried rebooting, tried force csv import and epg.dat conversion, it says it does stuff but still nothing shows on the epg listings.

Merlin-3 is my favourite image for a long time, mostly so because it uses larger windows for menu's like AutoTimer, which makes sense being an HD box to use larger windows.
Also I prefer this image's single ok menu (there is ever a need for a double ok menu), also like how it shows the now and next in the status menu with start times and durations, I know other images do also but I just like how it displays them very clearly and better formatted than some other images.
Also Merlin-3 gives many options when selecting which satellite, like FTA or FTA HD, etc.. nice to have if you are not using an auto bouquet updater.



If anybody knows how to setup/configure crossepg with Merlin-3 please let me know, in the meantime I'll try some of my other less favourite images to see if any of those work with crossepg's XMLTV listings.

EDIT: icvs 3.2.4 (SIM2-DM800SE_and_SR4-Release-3-2-4_Benkurd-SSL84B (2012-11-26)) works perfectly with XMLTV, also parses much faster than nemesis and comes with just the essential plugins.

Here is the XMLTV Import Plugin working with Rytec Providers as mentioned its a little slower but will give you 7 days EPG until they fix the XEPGDB import that works with CrossEPG
