    Motorised Dish and DM800 Setup

    All,

I had a DM800 setup with my motorised and when I changed to a channel on a different satellite the dish moved automatically. However my DM800 died and I am trying to setup the new one with the motorised dish.

I am based in South London and the motorised dish is a technomate.

I have plugged the DM800 into the motorised dish which is at 28.2 at the moment, so it will display Sly UK fine as the tuner is setup as simple. However as soon as i change to advance and use the following settings:

    Choose Tuner
    ALPS BSBE2 (DVB-S2) - Press OK

    Configuration Mode: Advanced
    Satellite : 28.2 ASTRA
    Voltage Mode: Polarization
    Tone Mode: band
    LNB : LNB 1
    DiSEqC Mode: 1.2
Latitude xxx.xxx East (I presume it should be east)
Longitude xxx.xxx North (I presume it should be north)
Use USALS for this Sat: Yes

I click onto a Sly UK channel but it the moves the dish, but it shouldn't as it is already at 28.2.

I know I am doing something wrong, but could do with some advice as this has been working fine, so know the dish is aligned correctly, its just configuring the DM800 with the Dish and at the correct degree...

    Thanks,
    D

The problem is as you have found out the box does not really know where the dish. One way is to send the box to a known Satellite, and then loosen the motor bolts and move the dish and tune it to the right Sat. So it has a reference point. Another is to take it out of USALS and give it fixed position. I suppose you could mess about about and guess how much the box is out and move it manually switch it off and on and see if it will move to that position.

      Thanks for the reply,

The dish is currently set at 28.2, so surly i can tell the box the dish is currently here? if so how....

Also, at the dish i can use the alignment button to move the dish to any degree, so can set back to zero, but how do i then tell the DM800 im at zero.

I'm a little lost as i dont know where the box thinks its at, at the moment... I think thsta the main issue....

if you put in your actual longitude and latitude from a postcode search at dishpointer or bing maps under USALS, then providing the motor was installed correctly it wont move when you select 28.2e in your motorised menu (seeing as its at 28.2e already), if it does move then the motor wasnt installed correctly
