What happened to XEPGDB? (crossepg, uk)

What happened to all the XEPGDB servers?

There are now only 4 servers remaining! and none are for the UK

I always have to use XEPGDB's Rytek UK XMLTV (repacked) as it's the only server which is supported for crossepg on all images.
OpenTV doesn't seem to work on any image that doesn't already come with crossepg pre-installed (which is very few), in my personal experience and I've tried almost every image available for this box as I like to review/compare images.
Also XMLTV doens't work on any image I try, it says it downloads but then finishes almost instantly, no deflating or parsing events, nothing happens, thats why I always had to use the (repacked) version from XEPGDB.

I am having to use Nemesis image now as it's the only one which fully supports crossepg (comes pre-installed) for using Sky UK OpenTV (28.2).

So, does anybody know what happened to the UK servers for XEPGDB?
    Will they return?
Why did they all shut down?

(and yes, "update xepdgdb providers" still only grabs 4 servers, older preinstalled provider lists no longer connect/download)

Without the nemesis image I'd have absolutely NO episode guide at all, honestly I don't know how people use crossepg without the XEPGDB's providers, the instructions posted in this forum are no longer relevant or accurate to current distributions of enigma2 images, not even on the suggested Merlin-3 with the specific attached version of crossepg (I've tried, the options available in menu's to not match the instructions at all), also editing the enigma2.sh to include the extra line specified in the instructions prevents the box from booting up again, I've tried several different images, including merlin-3.
OR if they are correct, they do not apply to the DM800HD SE SR4.

If anybody has a current updated step-by-step instructions how to set up crossepg from scratch on any image to work with OpenTV or XMLTV (preferred) providers please let me know, or if somebody knows an image that works on the box below please let me know which one,

    I'm using a DM800HD SE SR4.

It is a real shame we have to use OpenTV now as it's not as good as XMLTV as these include series and episode numbers with a better/more detailed description for all shows than OpenTV.

any news/info on this is most appreciated,

    thanks

No idea what has happened to the XEPGDB's providers but you are correct they are down to 4 maybe a problem at there end but Rytec is still showing 33 providers with 28.2? east among them and is fully operational

same problem here VM, XEPGDB providers only lists 4 when updating, the xmltv providers are much slower and never give a complete epg for me, I have tried to restore some old backups today and grab the file from /usr/crossepg/providers but all my backups didn't have a configured crossepg for some reason, if anybody (who hasn't updated there box in last 4 weeks, and uses xepgdb) could share their providers file from /usr/crossepg/ via ftp we may get it going again . I read elsewhere they dropping support for xepgdb for some reason, don't know if true or not

Some older images where crossepg comes preinstalled has the old providers of XEPGDB, but I don't think importing an old list of providers will help, as we are updating the list to try and fix the problem of the old providers not responding any more when downloading the lists.
Since the providers have now been removed form the published list, I doubt they will suddenly come back online again, and if they do I'm sure they will notify whoever is hosting the providers list as they did when it went offline. (assuming this is not an automated list based on ping responses or something)
Unless anybody has some direct info why XEPGDB have stopped offering the repacked XMLTV listings, we can assume they will not be returning.

So southpaw, as you say like digicon that you have managed to get the standard (although crappy) XMLTV provider to work with crossepg, could I please ask which dreambox model you are using, which image you have, and which version of crossepg?

Perhaps I am blind or failing to find what is available, but I cannot find any current guide for setting up crossepg with the DM800HD SE SR4. (instructions for other boxes do not work, I've tried many times).
And instructions I do find which claim to work for the DM800HD SE SR4, I install the exact same image they mention (if mentioned) and the exact same version of crossepg, but what I see on screen when going into menu's the instructions specify do not match at all.

          thanks

PS. why did all my thanks & thanked vanish when this forum got updated?

My bad, didn't realise the old providers had stopped working, was under impression they just weren't showing in providers,
I have latest pli image on a dm800se clone, and using the cross epg from the pli download server, however it's very poor and only shows very few channels using xmltv bbc provider, tried with open providers from the radio stream but that was just as bad,
hopefully somebody with coding skills can come up with a fix to the xepgdb issue sometime soon
Btw, everybody's thanks got wiped on forum upgrade,

I`ve been doing a bit of googling on this issue and it seems crossepg is being totally re-coded from scratch for oe3 and the maintenance for xepgdb has stopped hence the latest issues. Apparently the new crossepg is almost ready, how compatable it will be with the variety of images out is anybodies guess. I have had a little play with my provider configs and looks like I have a full epg at mo, not sure what changes fixed it but in meantime I have upped a ipk of crossepg to my dropbox (install and config it to use usb), along with a copy of my crossepg folder from usb (unzip and ftp to your usb), it will give you this weeks worth until something better is sorted out. dropbox link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zvdnfq516...rossepg2.11.13

Crossepg is working to a fashion and if you want to keep using it then updating to the latest providers database as suggested by themselves is the way to go.

Although i have just switched to XMLTV plugin on my other 2 machines and this is working without a hitch both running OpenPLi

They're back!? all 32 servers re-appear now on updating the list.

Though they take forever to download in openpli image, seems ok on nemesis.

EDIT: xepgdb does download and attempt to parse after deflation of events, but after completion nothing appears in the epg list, guess I'll keep using the standard XMLTV one for now

yeh they appeared again last week, although like you they don't seem to be working on pli, I have now moved to epg import xmltv plugin, as suggested by digicon, works really well, but needs manually starting on mine as enabling auto scheduler doesn't seem to do it

You dont unpack it, it's a linux executable file ( .ipk ) so install it as such.

I was originally doing it that way but every time I downloaded it its prefix became a .php and not ipk the person who originally posted it told be to relate it to WinRAR and it should then change the prefix this is his statement- Right click on the .php file and select open or open with, then choose winrar to be the default program to open this kind of file..
but now I cannot stop WinRAR attaching itself to .php files it driving me mad.

if anyone can download it and post it as a ipk file I would appreciate it as when it comes to zip files I am a total numpty. Thanks.

have been told it is compatible with my box DM800HD with all servers updated.
