I'm thinking of purchasing a DM800 se Clone with WiFi. I just have some questions though, which I'm hoping someone can answer.
1. Where is the cheapest reputable place I can get one from? I found this one from AliExpress, which seems to have a fair number of reviews, but I'm not sure if it's safe. This is slightly more expensive but is from Nextbay, which I've seen mentioned occasionally here. Are these clones and sites safe to buy from?
2. What is the difference between A8P and 2.10? Do DM800s have the same problem as VU+ boxes (i.e. Ferrari vs non-Ferrari)?
3. Does this support HD channels on both DVB-S and DVB-S2 on C band?
4. I want to be able to watch the same HD channel on the TV (through HDMI) and stream it to another PC at the same time. Can the DM800 se handle this? Would the output stream be of the same quality and H.264? (Given that network speeds are not an issue).
5. What happens if I am watching a channel and try to stream another? Given that I only have 1 tuner (and a single LNB) will the second stream take priority or will it just not work.
6. Does the DM800 se clone have any quality issues (like the VU+ Duo exploding PSUs)? Would it be asking too much for it to last in excess of 10 years?
7. If I don't need PVR functionality, can I just have no HDD?
Or should I just get a VU+ Solo clone and a USB WiFi stick (or some other box altogether)? Can that do the same stuff reliably?
I'm planning to view a few and stream a few FTA SD and HD channels only, so there will be minimal flashing, just enough to get it working. It just needs to do this reliably, hopefully for a long time, given the box it's replacing is still going after 13 years. I'm more inclined towards clones because Dreamboxes and VU+ are virtually non-existent in Australia and buying originals from overseas is prohibitively expensive.
