dm800 hd which satellite to use

Hi there!

i live in Ireland and have dm800 hd prv (plus gift). thats my first dreambox. its running openpli 2.1 kernel version 2.6.18 . sim201
tuner option:
configuration mode - simple
mode - single
satellite - 28.2E eutelesat 28A..Astra 1N/2A/2F
send DiSEqC - no
tune amplitude - 800 mV
satellite dish pointing on astra according to satellite finder website

the lad wchich I have box from says everyting is ready to go just plug and play

but if i automatically scan channelI can get only 39 foreign channels, cant pick any sly
If I press the bouquet button on remote I see list of all sly channels but If I pick lets say sky 1 its just black screen

shall I change something on dreambox (satellite type or something) or my actually satellite dish pointing wrong way?

sounds like dish pointing wrong way paddy, you got a local mate you could test box on there dish just to confirm

if it were all setup properly and truly plug+play then the UK channels would come on soon as you attached a dish pointing at 28e

now lads, I tried align sat dish again and I found some satellite reception 99% and then did the scan again and now it found over 1000 channels but most of them are in german (sly one HD etc.) and Italy but no english channels. pressed blue button for favorites and they all are grey
You guys still thinking thats the dish have to be checked or may be something in dreambox, plugins extensions or some other things?????

You pointing at wrong sat mate, go on dish pointer site, enter your address, and select 28 east sat and it will show you your area and the direction you need to point, pick a landmark in the line of site and point dish that way

Have you entered your longitude and latitude in correctly matching that of your address?

get in!!!!!!!!!!! sorted! i was jumping from one end to the other and finally got it!

few channels are grey but im happy so far

Well in paddy lad, you can tweak it a bit more, look at adjusting the angle of the dish up+down and tweak that til highest signal, then twist the lnb (the horn thing on the arm) again til highest signal, get a mate to stand at TV on phone to you checking signal level, not Mrs! giving a running commentary so you know you are going right way, keep ahold of that ladder tho mate,
