    Flashing AP8 issues...

I am trying to flash openpli (have this on my sim 2.10 box) everyone i've tried from the PLI site seems to crash the box.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Also tried Newnigma and that froze whilst setting up.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

When you say the box crashes,
is it actually flashed with said image, then the box randomly crashes/green screen or does it not flash the original firmware .

In my experience with an a8pbox, was straight forward. I flashed original openpli firmware from the nightly builds, and all was good.

The image flashes fine. It freezes, reboots the HDD isn't always recognised even though I've formatted and mounted it. I'm now thinking its down to the plugins.

      I have installed;

      TS Panel
      TS Media
      Autobouquets
      EPG Import

I want this box to be a mirror of my 2.10 box which runs on all of the above plugins fine.

I am going to try and flash just the image and run as normal and then slowly introduce plugins to see if that is the issue.

I think its the HDD that is faulty. I've had trouble mounting and formatting it. I removed it and the STB worked fine.

I've since removed the HDD, formatted it in ext3 format on the PC, put back in the box and still have trouble mounting/formatting it. I'm gonna try using a isb stick just for crossepg now until I can get another HDD

Yep , looks like you narrowed down the problem.
You will know for sure in the next few days if the lock ups/errors stop appearing

I still have the same problem after removing the HDD.

I have reflashed it and done a manual scan of 1 satellite.

I haven't installed any plugins of soft cams .

I've left it on a FTA channel and after anything between 20-40 mins the just locks up.

Any ideas what I can do to solve this? I've never had anything like this before.

            Thanks

After hours of testing I believe I have a faulty STB, I have attached a crash log to see if anyone can shed any light. I'm not looking forward trying to get it returned/refunded from mixeshop.

Right, so if you got access to another tuner (same would be ideal, because of the back plate) swap them over and see if the problem persists. Be delicate when removing and inserting them.
I had a similar issue a while back where the box would hang on boot up. So I swapped tuners and it booted up fine....the strange thing was the offending box's tuner worked fine in the donor box but not in its original box

Cheers for that, I'm quite hopeful the issue can be solved, the Chinese seller said they would send out a new tuner if it was the cause of the problem. I'll contact them in the morning....

                      Thanks

I have tried the BCM tuner from my other box. I had the same problem. I'll be in touch with the seller....

Just a quick update. The box has been returned to china and a new one will be sent (hopefully!)

I'll keep this thread updated and report back on the service I get from this seller.

How did you send it back (what carrier/service) did you use. How much did it cost?
                              Thanks
