    XMLTV & XEPGDB both down?

Are XMLTV & XEPGDB both down?

I never got XEPGDB working again since it came back onilne some months ago, but at least XMLTV was working... but as of a few days ago it's no longer populating my EPG, it seems like it downloads (though unusually fast...) and parses the data, but then nothing appears in the EPG any more.

I hate the crap sky opentv one which doesn't tell you anything about the episode other than a name and generic description, so I would really like the proper detailed EPG we all love and prefer.

Anybody else experiencing this? No changes have been made to my box or where it stores the crossepg data over the past few months, it was running perfectly fully automated until recently.

xmtv using rytec_uk for epg works fine, opentv is best always give info on program on and its always updated right away, unlike other sources so dont know whats happening with yours

Xmltvimport works well, much better than cross as it runs in background and you can change channel while it runs unlike cross, you can download it from plugins on pli images

thanks southpaw, I downloaded it from the rytec.be website (because I dont like openpli, none of the images have FTA channel filter), installed, selected Rytec UK XMLTV sources, did manual download, it said importing thousands of events, nothing appears in my episode guide.

tried rebooting several times, tried enabling "start import after booing up" still nothing happens.

when it says "importing" does this actually mean "downloading"? and where is it trying to save the temporary downloaded EPG info? crossepg you set this yourself, but I don't see an option in this application.
I don't have an internal HDD, I save/configure everything to run from my NAS, maybe this is the problem if you cannot say where to save the downloaded info to?

            OpenPLi Wiki: XMLTV Import

all info regarding epgimport plugin is explained here mate , recommend you run it on pli tho (can be configged for others . see link above)

btw, autobouquet has options re- ftv channels , put that on latest pli and you wont get a much better image on a dreambox imho

            good luck

tested with openpli4 and seems to be working fine, I guess Rytec must have changed the format so it's no longer compatible with crossepg.

the other annoying thing about pli is the timers list for disabled items, they go to the bottom of the list so you then have to scroll through all timers to find the conflicting one... who's thought this was a good idea? I dont know...

But despite its many flaws, it is stable and functional at least, just a shame the better images aren't as reliable.

Little tip for scrolling, use the right arrow button, (as apposed to the down arrow) scrolls thru a full page at a time , works on channel list, so presume same for timers, don't use timers so can't confirm mate

episode series info seems removed from title but still in the description at least, I guess it was a decision by Rytec.

Is using a OpenPli image the solution to having Epg working again or is there a temporary glitch so to speak that will be resolved ?

Just installed this image OpenPLI.2.1.Sim2.SSL84.Full_20Motor_20BackUP_20By% 20Ferret to try out, it seem ok and had the epg but I couldn't find all the plugins.

I don't think the openPli image I was using was the correct one so is there a good OpenPli to use for the DM 800se ?

The older PLI images don't have the updated sources for plugins, try finding a newer image (pli4) to use, or ask in the opelpli.org forums how/where to edit files to update the plugins sources.

So is EPG no longer working for other images like Nemesis ?

I have been discussing with Rytec what has happened in the pli forums (Missing Episode Numbers in title? - [EN] Rytec XMLTV and EPG support - Forums) they claim no changes were made, and yet you can see in other forum posts in that board (and here) many people's crossepg all stopped working at the same time some weeks ago.

I have manually downloaded XMLTV importer (epg import) from the rytec.be site and followed steps precicely, tried on several images none of them seem to work. (they install, application runs fine, but no EPG data after download).
The only image I have succes with is the PLi image (Pli4) downloading form the built-in addons downloader menu.

Additionally, it appears XMLTV importer doesn't add series/episode numbers to filenames or titles unlike crossepg, I found this very useful when browsing/deleting duplicates from the list.

EDIT: Rytec is now testing with Crossepg to find the faults, see info here: http://openpli.org/forums/topic/3292...tion-crossepg/

                              place the attached file here:

                              /usr/crossepg/providers/

and crossepg will work again, Epg Import doesn't need modifying the sources file because it is designed slightly better, although it doesn't add series/episode details to the title or filename like crossepg does, when searching and deleting duplicates some people find helpful.

                              rytec_uk_xmltv.zip

instructions for manual editing of sources files for other providers see Rytec's post : Attention: Crossepg - [EN] Rytec XMLTV and EPG support - Forums
