you need some kind of attached media , either usb or internal hdd, with a sub folder labelled "movie"
without it you wont have space to store the media locally on the dm800se.

if you currently got a usb stick in your box, create a sub-folder labelled "movie" and ftp the mkv file to it
obviously the usb stick needs to be larger enough to store the file

Yeah I have a 1TB internal hard drive which is where I won't to try an store these files. So there is no specific directory that I need to create the 'movie' folder in? is it just as long as the MKV files are located in there?

Is it possible to download straight to the dreambox instead of my laptop first?

Hmm, I've just tried to watch several MKV files I put on my dreambox but there is no sound on any of them, the plays fine just no sound. Is there a plugin that needs to be added to the DM?

If the ones you have with no sound have DTS audio then you cant get the audio working on these at all.

Cheers for that Digicon, will avoid DTS audio.

There is a Plugin called 'Transmission' thats a torrent downloader currently up to V2.6, I cannot comment on what its like as i never used it, there use to be a couple of NZB ones but these are no longer developed

                        Regards

My files keep freezing after about 20-25min play then I have to press stop and play again but unfortunately sometime it won't start from the same point it stopped at.

Do you have any freezing issues when playing your MKV files & is there a way to fast forward or rewind the file? as the normal method doesn't work on these files.

                          Thanks

Mkv is just a container as apposed to a file type, if the stuff you struggling to play is high bitrate 1080p then the small processor in a dreambox will struggle , stick to 720 mkv's and you should be OK

For DTS TO AC3 use PopCorn MKV AudioConverter 1.87.73
also any mkv files with issues use mmg its inside the MKVtoolnix folder in the Tools of popcorn remove any audio ect using it ie a unwanted audio on a duel audio file and any unwanted subs and you will find the file plays sweet
