Dreambox keeps freezing

Recently encountered this problem after I had installed Rats new Enigma Channel list for DM800HD Clone. (The one that fixed the BT SPORT and Espn and ETC.) Basically the Dreambox stops every 20 mins as in completely stops, the channel and all. I cannot even switch the channel or turn it off or go to the menu, its as it completely freezes. Reboots. The only soloution is to plug it out from the back and then plug it in. But then same story every 20 mins and then comes back on. I have an OpenPli image. I was wondering what's the problem here: I tried using my friends psu,but the same encounter occurs(or it might be that his psu does not work either because he no longer uses his dreambox since around 5 months. 2 days ago I decided to unplug the dreambox but I kept it (psu) on in the socket just not plugged on to the dreambox. overnight. In the morning it worked perfect all day long till night again I did not unplug it. So what do I do now ?? Thanks
P.S. I even tried reinstalling the open pli image I use, I did a fresh new flashing, also service searching etc. but no luck.

it may well be software mate, are you sure your memory isnt full, you can check in dcc .
personally i would update to sim2 pli 84d

also if its just uk sat i would put autobouquet on it , this will scan all channels and catagorise them accordingly and only takes seconds to complete, you can grab it off pli download panel (menu>plugins>download plugins>extensions >autobouquet

from then just keep it lean, only install plugins you use and cant live without, and keep an eye on memory used in dcc

if its still problematic after that , i would look at a cooling solution , maybe a cheap usb laptop cooler from ebay

I have exactly the same problem!!! It started happening a few days ago.
I think the developers of the box purposely built this in to make you buy a new box, this is not unheard of with 3rd party freesat boxes like dreambox. Do you have a DM800 by any chance?

I have completely re-flashed with several images (including PLI4-dm800se-sim210.ssl84d-by-voyger) but every image has the same problem. When it starts to freeze nothing happens, the channel keeps on playing but you cannot change volume, press menu, change channels, nothing works at all.
The only thing you CAN do (for me anyway) is turn it off and on with the power button on the remote, though all this does is turn the screen off it doesn't do anything to the box.

Please help! Do I need to buy a new box? If so which one can I buy which has support for autotimer & crossepg? (need both, other epg importers don't name files with series episode numbers)

you have a configured usb stick tho right ?, if not and you are using an epg then this may be the root of your problem !

I have no USB stick insterted into it. I say I am using the dreamboxes memory as I tried to download an image from the box just now and it would not allow me saying I have less then 60mb.
I will try flashing that image you gave me.

By the way I recently put in Cccam.prio and Cccam.channelinfo into my etc folder, would that may have any causes.
Just installed the image, now just putting in the channells.

Hi, I just notice that this image does not have TS Panel already installed in it, any chance for another good image that already is packed with TS panel

Just installed the image there, downloaded Cccam and the box seems to work like before, I have not downloaded Ts. panel because it came up as bad magic number

well for me I'm using that image already and the problem remains. even right after image is finished, box reboots, clicking menu button and other functions (volume etc) just freezes and lags and nothing happening at all.

I desperately need this working again, so if you think it's buggered please say so and if somebody can suggest a box which I can buy with autotimer + crossepg support let me know. thanks.

(and no, it's not my remote cos I can turn it off and on with remote no problems)

Maybe try doing a factory reset and downloading the image again. This time do not install TS Panel and just download CCcam from the plugins.
Put in Channell lists, and You should be working. Or you can always try to re flash again.

It's not overheating, the fan is still functioning and it's as cool as usual.

If you mean use some function within the enigma2 enviroment to factory reset it I cannot, the box is now unresponsive after imaging.
It has got worse throughout the day. If I keep smashing the button over and over.. for several minutes, eventually it will respond once, then freeze again.

It also crashes/hangs the whole box when trying to do any long processes such as download episode guide data.

I don't use any internal HDD just the memory that is built in, DCC says about 88% (8mb free) as per usual.

I'm pretty sure its dying/dead so I will look into buying a different box, thanks anyway.

factory reset the box try using dreamup to re flash it i'll pm you a few back up images to suit your box never let a good box die

thanks I'll check them out, but is it any different flashing with dreamup versus holding the button in the back and using the built-in flashing tool from web browser? (I will try dreamup anyway, but just curoius)

I can't use dreamup on my clone box only seems to work for noncloned (research tells me) but I'll try with sunray-flashup
