    ok I imaged with sunray-flashup with merlin3, booted up, it comes to the initial input selection screen and is ignoring anything I press on the remote. (other than power on/off but even that doesn't work every time).

    It's had a good life, but I've never been a huge fan of it due to;

    1.) hard to find updated images as people focus on NON cloned boxes more
    2.) remote smashes into pieces when dropped due to BAD design (batteries are in the base and too heavy for the clip to hold them inside)
    3.) channels keep duplicating in the FTA list, which affects autotimers

    there are more issues but anyway... I think a new box is a good idea, just not sure where I can get one at short notice with fast delivery

    I made a separate post about a new box (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...lp-pls-417627/) but here or there info is appreciated on which one I should go for, if I want crossepg & autotimer extensions.

    thanks

      there is an option in dreamup to "repair bad sectors" on memory , so that method is deeper than a general web flash,

      to the op, are you saying your box is fine now or "working as before" meaning same issue/problem ?

        that sounds great but as I said, dreamup doesn't work with cloned boxes. I tested again and it just says NO CA found error thingy on the box after connecting and turning on (using DreamUP_1_3_3_9) from DM800 HD se Flashing with DreamUp | dream-multimedia-tv.de but I'm pretty sure sunray flashup is the same tool (but for clones) as it looks itendical.

        so can I just buy any enigma2 box and this will allow me to install autotimer and crossepg? or does it have to be specific ones

          personally i have never used the sunray tool, does it have "repair bad sectors" checkbox ? if not you you need a cracked version of dreamup for clones , the original one from dm will not work, check download section, also a 2nd tool available with same option is "optiflasher" by yassinov

            I tried yassinov optiflasher it said no CA found, so I guess this also doesn't work with clones.. (this is the last time I buy a clone!)
            Anyway yes sunray flashup has "recover bad sectors" option. I tried again with this option enabled, flashing finished, same problem can't even get past the initial set up any more, nothing I press is responding.

              i know you probably already made your mind up in wanting to replace it, but a lil bit of percy vearence and i am sure your clone can run sweet again,imo the clones are as good as originals , you say the original remote was badly designed which caused you to break it , so therefore the issue now could be with the replacement remote, have you checked it works with a camera phone ?
              also you could use the webif remote to set the box up , not a permanent thing but will tell you if the hardware side is good or not and then repace the remote with a compatable/working one or use an old android phone with enigma2 app for remote

                Since the power button on the front doesn't respond either any more, it's safe to assume it's not the remote.

                I'd love nothing more than to get this fantastic device working again, but based on it's behaviour has got worse over the past few days and now completely not responding (with any image), it's hard to have hope of ever breathing life back into it
