    dm800hd se not booting

    hi guys im trying to fix a dm800hd se built in wifi for a friend of a friend,the lcd display on front loads to about 90% and goes no further...when i connect through web browser i see this message=
    If you see this, your Dreambox didn't boot the Linux kernel. Unless you interrupted the boot process, this usually means that your Dreambox doesn't have a valid operating system installed.

    Don't worry! It's not a problem. You can just flash a new version and everything will be fine!

    Otherwise, you can boot from network or USB.

    If you're about to give up, you might get help at the Dream Multimedia Support board!

    You can download the current flash content, but please don't expect to be able to flash it back. It's merely a debugging feature.
    ive

    MAC address 00:09:34:2c:1f:ae
    Printed serial number CC0615100035067

    That error means its the wrong image for the box. Loads of images in downloads to choose from.

        the info you posted above does not help in determining which image you can use, physically check the box for a sticker that mentions "sim2" or "ferrari" as these are the 2 popular clones , if no sticker check the small lcd screen when applying power, as that may have reference to which sim type it has

          box has booted now,seems if u leave it to go cold it boots,guy says its very hard to get started sometimes has to try 20 or 30 times...could it be a hardware problem? or would bootloader cause these type problems, he said box was working fine until about 2 weeks ago and has gradually got worse,anyway im leaving box on standby for now , can anybodt point me to a newer image info ive found

          open pli
          hardware = dm800se
          dreamboxuk
          kernal version = 2.6.18
          enigma = nov 1 2011
          last upgrade = unavailable
          frontprocessor version;1
          tuner bcm4505
          secondstage bl sim2-84a-rl
          also when switching on i can see sim 2 in lcd screen ,no stickers on stb although im pretty sure its a clone as he only paid €200
          if this is not enough info can somebody tell me where to find it....thanks in advance

            this image is all setup for uk viewing

            the important info when looking for an image is it must be sim2 and 800SE (no other image will work and will temporarily brick the unit)

              the image linked above has wifi drivers removed so is plug+play only if the box is hard-wired to ethernet,
              if you want the very latest pli for your unit , you can grab it here, but it aint pre-configured and will need to be setup from scratch

                      i dont use wifi mate, but you could try shut down>remove ethernet>attach wifi>boot , it may auto-detect ?
                      failing that you can probably configure the wifi thru menu>setup>network

                        I used a cheap usb lan card from China on a mates Dreambox 800hd with a Mifi and tested to on my box and I couldn't tell if I had Ethernet in or not it was that good.
                        It automatically found it in network and was easy to set up.

                            Think a lot depends on what image you're using and if it has the relevant drivers installed mine worked fine on an Openpli image.
