Which box should I buy? (quick help pls)

Please can somebody tell me which box I should buy that can support autotimers and crossepg? (need both, other epg importers don't label filenames with series or episode numbers)
Can it just be any box that runs on enigma2?

Urgent advice is apprecated because as stated in http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...6/#post2289940 my box is dying, it has been getting worse over the past few weeks now it's unusable and I will soon be missing some shows that I really don't want to miss!

I need to buy one asap so any help is most appreciated!

    thanks

I need gitabit network for watching HD vids and dvb-t as sometimes I don't have satellite signal.
The only box I can like this is the VU+ Duo2 which costs almost half a grand? !

Why does the VU+ cost ?429.00 but dreambox with exactly same features only cost about ?169 ? can somebody explain please, or suggest an alternate box to go for with enigma2 where the usual plugins will work.

Have a search for the Gigablue Quad Plus version this will suit your needs, has 2 fixed Satellite Tuners and 2 Plug & Play tuners and Gigabit Ethernet

Currently retails at the same price as the Solo2 but some retailers are putting in a DVB-T/C tuner for around ?299

thanks! that sounds more my price range I found some here
        Code:
        http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=Gigablue&sort=p.price&order=ASC&limit=100
which have gigabit, dvb-S2 and dvb-t, at the same price ranges as the dreamboxes.

        this one for example
        Code:
        http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/gigablue-hd800se-plus-hd-800-se?filter_name=Gigablue&sort=p.price&order=ASC&limit=100
is same priced as the dreambox equivalent and offers what I need, but there are tons of other varieties scaling up in price to the quad, what's the difference between them all?

(can't find a comparison site explaining these boxes unlike the dreambox and VU+ which have wikipedia pages detailing)

my only question/concern with non-dreambox/vu+ is options for images, sometimes people make really bad stock images and the option of using other (more suitable) images is common for dreambox and vu+ not I've never heard of this box make before.

The One you linked too above only has 10/100 Ethernet and you specifically asked for Gigabit for streaming purposes, for Gigabit on the Other models you have to buy the USB Gigabit adaptor and then its limited to a ma 480mbps rate

Visit the home site to compare models:
          Code:
          http://www.gigablue.de/en/
as far as i can tell only the Quad Plus version has Gigabit Ethernet which runs the same processor and chipset as the solo2 but has more options avaialble.

The only difference between the Solo2 and the GB Quad+ image support wise is that Blackhole exclusively support VU+ and no one else most other ppular images including the OE alliance ones are available for the GB Quad+

I am having difficulty finding a supplier of both the quad box and the tuner combined into one price. I guess I don't mind buying separately and slotting it in myself, but then will the o/s register this device or will I need to run some commands post-imaging to make it work every time? I'm no good with linux

And why does the dreambox dm800 hd se (for merely ?160) offer the same features as a ?299+ box? what am I missing here?
(I don't want to buy another dreambox and risk the same problems some years later again..)

Do a Google search for Red Apple Digital they have the Box with the DVB-C/T2 included @ ?299 also have a look on ebay as you could buy the box as standard then slot the tuner in when required, The Image should recognise the Tuner once installed.

A Clone DM800se for around ?130 is competing against one of the very latest chipsets from Broadcom with a dual core 1300mhz processor compared to the 405 on-board the Clone 800se.

If you already have a satellite receiver you are happy with then just order a Clone 800se with a cable tuner, the Quad is probably for someone looking at getting into the hobby but has the potential to work with Cable/FreeviewHD at a later date

I have now ordered this one as suggested, it seems to tick all the boxes:
                  Code:
                  http://www.redappledigital.co.uk/GiGaBlue-HD-800-Quad-Plus-Linux-Receiver-p/quadpbc.htm

I would just get another DB but I'm just a bit tired of the endless problems that I've had with this box, and as soon as I get it working stable as a rock.. these stupid problems appear with it freezing (see other post) so I really CBA wasting time again on a cheap box. If I can pay a bit more for quality that lasts, I would prefer this.

                  My problems with drembox clones:

1.) duplicate channels keep appearing in the FTA list so autotimers records duplicates (auto bouqets has no affect) -- nobody seems to know how to prevent this, I did ask
2.) it's sometimes hard to find updated images for this box as you are limited to volunteers who have modified new images to work with the clone boxes
3.) the remote control buttons u need to press SO HARD compared to other remotes
4.) when you drop the remote due to it's terrible design with the base heavy and unbalanced (really this is just me??) the batteries fall out because the clip is weak
5.) the time (clock) doesn't always work so have to use timeupdate extension (a work around I guess) -- bios battery is hard-soldered on I think?

instead of using auto timer can you set recording on epg setup instead as your only on one channel and not all varieties?

Some shows are on more than one channel, like 8 out of 10 cats (for example) on Channel 4 then repeated on More4, same for some BBC shows. Sometimes I miss a series and it's repeated some time later in life but I don't know when as I don't waste my life reading TV guides, that's kinda the whole point of autotimers, so it can/will record your favourite shows whenver they are aired on any channel.

If I knew exactly what channel and when something will be on then I won't need autotimers

Anyway the new gigablue arrived today and I'm just trying to figure out how to image it and which images are the correct ones to use, then hopefully this box will do just as well as the old dreambox, though since they are both on the same enigma2 I guess the duplicate channels bug will remain.
