    DM800HD SE clone please help

Hi all, just got my new box and boy is it different to set up out of the box than my Openbox s11.
Firstly I used to dump the cccam files from a memory stick to the OB but I take it you can't
do this with the DM ? Firstly I tried to install Dream-up to my pc but it couldn't find a Com port and
aborted even though I turned firewall off. I did get it connected to the router and updated the software after rebooted when I power on the box it is stuck on the image of the box
itself. I'm pulling my hair out with this as i'm a total novice, any help would be greatly appreciated.
All my google searches on a tutorial seem to assume everyone knows what to do from the start.

yes a dm800 and openbox s11 are quite different . we cant talk about cam stuff (forum rules ) but sufficed to say you can use dream control center to copy or edit files in your dreambox .

what are you using to connect dreamup to your box ? , I mean are you using a null modem cable ? or a combination of null modem cable and usb to serial adaptor ? . if your using a nul modem cable and adaptor you need to download a suitable driver , very simply put the driver is a bit of software that helps dreamup see your box and communicate with it .

that said if you want to flash the box you can flash a dm800 via web browser , and not need to use any cables . im sure there is a guide on this site to flash a dm800 via web browser , but if not its easy to find via a google search .

you will of course need a suitable image , an image is the name for the tv software , and that image must be compatable with your box . each dreambox has a sim and bootloader , clones (you say your box is a clone ) are mostly sim 2.01 , so really the bootloader version is what you need . each box has a bootloader version , older boxes for example would be bootloader 76 (BL76) or bootloader 78 (BL78) newer dm800s boxes have bootloader versions in the 80s such as ssl84 . what you need to do is power of your box at the rear (there should eb a switch ) switch it back on and look at the lcd display at the front , various info will be displayed including the bootloader version . this info can pass quickly so you may have to read it a few times .

once you have your sim and bootloader versions , for example sim 2.01 BL84 , then you can get a suitable image . the image you use must have the same sim and bootloader versions as your box , and of course it must be clone safe . if you post your sim and bootloader versions im sure people here will recommend images for you to try that are suitable for your box .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
