Problem with remote control

Since flashing a new image to my DM800 (The image is a gemini I think, it shows GP2 on startup) I find that the remote will only work if I am within 12inches of the box itself.
Is this a well known problem and is there a cure or do I need a different image on the box.

Sorry to point out the obvious but have you tried changing the batteries in the remote? Have you flashed it back to the image you were using before to see if it is a problem with the image?

Definatly batteries don't use rechargeables
