    Can the DM800 power a 3.5" HD

    After having major issues trying to get my 500gb USB(external powered) hd to work with the DM i took the direct route!
    I opened up the enclosure of the hd,took the hd off it mounts and unplugged it from the pcb.
    I plugged in the sata/power cable you get with the DM into the hd,put the hd back in its enclosure,plugged it onto the DM like this(see photo)and it doesn't work?
    I'm guessing it doesn't have the guts to power a 3.5" unless i've done something wrong ?

        1. You need to use a 2.5" Sata drive as the power supply will likely fail after some time.

        2. Do you have a clone 800? If so many of the sata kits that come with them are cabled wrong (god only knows why) so by getting a sata kit from the local computer store and replacing the onboard one brings them back to life 100%.

                OK then let me re-phrase this;

                Most clone 2.5" sata kits are incorrectly wired and simply do not work - period. It is not the Dm800 clones that will not work it is the internal sata kit.

                So even if you plugin an external sata drive it will most likely fail for this reason.
