    SS3 HD Now Glitching. DM800

This DM800 is now annoying me.

Got an in-line booster, got 4 different tuners to try, all have problems even if the booster is on or off, it used to be SS1 Hd and discovery but it now seems this is a problem aswell, and SS3 is what channel the scottish football is on. Arghh.

Any ideas how to fix this? don't mind messing about a bit.

Have you tried replacing the C1 cap and the Q1, Q2 and Q3 mosfets on your tuner for better versions?

Sorted my problems on a Rev J Tuner.

You can get the following parts from Farnell.co.uk But minimum spend is ?20

        C1 capacitor is:
        RUBYCON - 6.3TZV1000M8X10.5 - CAPACITOR, SMD, 1000UF, 6.3V

Q1 and Q2 affecting HD channels
Q3 affecting all strengh of signal

        Q1 & Q2 Mosfet is: Si2301BDS-T1 " sot-23
        Q3 is: NXP PMV31XN

        Instructions:
Q1 etc is easy to take off, just put your soldering iron on the single pin on the mosfet and while heating it up lift the mosfet with a flat head screwdriver. (I used the soldering iron itself)

Take the soldering iron away and while the mosfet still has the other 2 pins soldered to the board move the mosfet back and forth and it will snap the 2 pins.

Now remove the pin remains from the board with your soldering iron and make the solder contacts that are still there perfect for putting another mosfet in place.

Align the mosfet over the 3 solder pads and while holding the mosfet in place with tweezers (Or anything that you can use) Apply some solder to the single contact. Now you can remove your tweezers and solder the other 2 pins in place.

C1 is easy to replace, just twist the cap clockwise and counter clockwise slowly with a pair of plyers and it will come off the board leaving 2 pin remains.

Remove the remains with your soldering iron (tidy up the pads)and now put your new C1 on the board. Apply some solder to one pin and hold it there for a couple of secs so the solder on the pad melts onto the pin underneath. Now do the same to the other side and you will be finished.

        Hope this helps.

solution which is hussle free is to buy an original Tuner from germany. It will solve everything for the rest of your dm800 life.

To get glitch free HD signal needs to be 70% and above on sky sports channels

                    SN-MULTIMEDIA - Dreammultimedia - Dreambox DVB-S2 Sat HD TV Tuner Modul DM 800 u.s.w

Have it fitted in my DM800 now, has cured all weak signal and glitching, also the dish now moves instantly when changing satellites.

A bit dear but well worth it cures many clone problems and still a lot cheaper buying clone box and original tuner than a Genuine box.

?180 for clone box ?70 for original tuner = ?250 for perfect DM800
