    Connecting DM800HD thru ethernet

This box is driving me mad (literally)!!What the hell settings do you need to connect via ethernet cable or power line adaptors to the 'net???I've tried every combination of IP addresses and settings and it still won't connect. Can someone please explain in simple terms what the settings are in relation to each other???Many thanks in advance. Cheers Chas.

if you just want thebox to have net access.

go to the setup menu. then expert setup. select the network menu. then you need to make sure that dchp is selected. this way the box will automatically be assigned a network ip and have access to the net.

    i think thats it.

try it without the home plugs first then setup your home plugs seperately.

to set those up (depending on the make and model) do so from the same 'ring' in the house. ie both downstairs first. or try having both on an extention block. once youve got them working and 'paired' you can move them to where they need to go in the house and should work from there.

Its probably working ok. Some images can report that the internet connection is not working after you do the network wizard setup BUT all is rquired is a reboot of the box and it will be working. I know some of the Nabilo images work like this.

Still struggling!!!!At the moment I have the box directly coupled to the router via an ethernet network cable and it still does'nt appear to connect.I am using Ipswitch_WS FTP program to connect and using the ip address as given in network settings in Win7 eg 86.22.11.xxx.these settings appear to have changed in the last week from the usual 192.168.1.x.Have tried DHCP and the box says Ethernet (green) Network connected(green) DHCP enabled(green) IP Address unconfirmed(red)Nameserver(greyed out).Is there any way to conclusively verify that the box is connected?maybe a program other than Ipswitch.Your help is very much appreciated.Cheers Chas.

Connect directley to your router then set it to DHCP and run the wizard then reboot the box try the network test and see if it passes ok.

are you using a patch cable or crossover cable? you need to use a patch one. to varify the box is connected go to the software update menu and try downloading a small plugin. (ie radio or something) but not a softcam or config file as that may just mess things up for u. if it downloads ok then its connected. if it hangs then its not. put look at the type of cable youre using first.

Yes says integrated ethernet in green, network is connected in green,DHCP enabled in green.I'm beginning to suspect this FTP program is cocking everything up and not connecting. Many thanks for continued support.Cheers Chas.

I used a straight through network cable. The network test says Integrated Ethernet enabled in green,Network connected in green, and DHCP enabled in green,IP ADDRESS unconfirmed in red, nameserver greyed out.I'll try your suggestions tonight before the match!!!!And let you know the results!!Many thanks for your support.Cheers Chas.
