    Using TopTV Smartcard with Dreambox

TopTV launched today in South Africa. After 15 years of the monopoly, DStv, we finally have choice. And it's much cheaper too.

According to the website, TopTV - Technology Overview, the Conditional Access system is NDS. I think it's the same used by Sky.

Would it be possible to use the TopTV Smartcard with the Dreambox DM800?

I dont see why not. though the toptv card is linked to the serial of the original box so just like the UK sky card you would have to enter the box key in the cccam config file and you should all be good to go. send me a PM if you want a hand in trying to set it up.

I want to try this as well,my smargo is on the way.
Have tried it on PC with phoenix so far and only get an ATR from card.
No further details seem to be read from card.
Can this be a com port baud rate setting that is not right or supported in windows ?
I checked in providers box with frequency counter that card is clocked at 4.5 MHz and it seems this custom baud rate is not supported in windows.

Anyone made any progress with this card in DM800 ?
I have tried various clock frequencies in cccam and when check log it always gives the following error:
        CCcam: nds card found
        CCcam: card init fail.
Could this be a wrong clock frequency in config file ?
I managed to get dvbdream to read atr from card and is identified as a tata sky card and max clock = 5 MHz

Below is an extract of my newcs and CCcam telnet logs.
Does anyone know what the error reports I have marked mean ?
Is newcs refusing CCcam connection or does it mean card is not being read or wrong boxkey ?

          Newcs Log:

          [ 02:01:49 ] [ Newcamd:15000 ] User CCcam logout

          and in CCcam log:

Not all cards can be accessed by third party receivers.. from some research I've done it looks like its not opening.. although the OSCam looks to be your best bet for opening it in the future..

Plenty of info if you google

                TopTV OSCAM

                  Hi Guys,
We are looking at oscam, agreed it seems the best chance of getting it to work.
                  To record toptv
Just use an old macrovision remover (demacrovision) used originally for copying VHS video cassettes, on the video output then picture is perfectly stable
