    Dreambox 800 password

Can anyone advise please. Have just changed from a db500 to a db800.I bought this last year but have not used until I got to know how to use the db500. The 800 has CCcam 2.0.11 installed. I have connected db800 to my network and all is working fine. However when i try to use any dreambox tool and input the default user name and password ( root and dreambox)it fails to connect. Whats going on? Any help appreciated.

If your dreambox is online and you need to use a dreambox tool youll have to switch off "dhcp" and use your lan settings to connect to it.Set your ip address to 192.168.1.XXX on your pc and have your DB at one digit less than pc address and try again.

Thanks for the reply but what I need is to be able to use DCC or Flash FXP amd these both need a user name and password.

        if you forgot the password
and your image has no password reset

you need to download via dm800 addons

        a plugin called Tuxcom

        which when installed becomes

        TuxBox Commander

        start TuxBox Commander
        scroll down to var
        OK
        scroll down to etc
        OK
down to passwd and press 4 (edit) ( file name passwd not passwd- )
        OK on first line
        RED to clear line
enter root::0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh with remote buttons like an writing an SMS
        OK
        EXIT
        save YES
        EXIT
        save YES
        EXIT
        EXIT
        EXIT
then login with dcc or telnet ect
        login root
        no pass !

            In any Windows version:
            Step1: Click Start
            Step2: click RUN
            Step3: type: CMD
Step4: type: telnet 192.168.1.2 <-- that was an exemple write the ip of your Dreambox instead of 192.168.1.2
Step5: It asks for user type: root
Step6: It asks for password type: dreambox
            Step7: type: passwd
            Step8: type your new password
Step9: type your new password again
Step10: reboot your DreamBox and you have a new root password!

            Second Way:
If you don't have windows or Command Prompt then you can use PuttyTel.exe (download link: http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/...6/puttytel.exe).
Then continue from step 4 above.

when i try this it goes straight into bios (does not ask for user or password)!!!
how can i get it to ask for my password so i can change it plz??

On your pc do Start > Run > CMD in the black screen type in telnet yourboxip (Return)
              passwd (Return)

It should then prompt you to enter a new password.
