Never thought of that but it makes sense. Just tried the Pli image and it worked fine. I tempted to try Barry Allen but its late so will leave that for another day.

Hi All , sim 201 team , who aint been doing alot lately , have just released a gem , we are now able to use original images in clone boxes

Flash any original image with bl76 (do not reboot) and then flash the patched bl76a and the image is ok ,

confirmed working 100% on DreamElite BH 1.3.3D , will report when other images are tested

I've got 3 Genuine DM800's and always used Blackhole .12 and now Dream Elite 1.3, I've never used Gemini :-)

I needed to re-flash a box yesterday and put Gemini 5 on out of curiosity but hated it. I know you can re-skin and its only cosmetic, but the default skin looks 10 years old with awful graphics for a HD receiver.

I haven't really noticed any difference in operation either, so I will be re-flashing today with Dream Elite and am starting to wonder if someone like myself doesn't like Gemini, should we bother buying genuine boxes in the first place!?!?

I don't want to start an argument about genuine Dreamboxes. after-all, as I said, I do have genuine boxes, but I am starting to question some of the theories about build quality etc.

For example, if you examine the main board's from a clone and a genuine box, its not actually possible to buy worse parts when it comes to the IC's (chips) used. Capacitors can vary but I don't think the genuine DMM uses higher quality caps than the clones. Playing devils advocate here, the tuner is probably the only part in the whole box that could vary significantly and I believe the clones are also using ALPS tuners these days.

I also take issue with the poor design of the power & initialisation circuitry on the genuine box. I have 3 x DM800's brought from SMS and verified genuine DMM boxes bought Jan 2010. All of them suffer the well known Warm Boot problems, where-by if you do a hard reset or remove the power, the boxes will not power back up if you remove the power lead and re-insert it with a short delay. The only way to get the boxes to power back up is to leave it for a long time (I assume to allow the caps to discharge) or use the well documented tip of removing and re-inserting the lead very quickly (e.g. in less than a second).

and when pulling the power and reinserting it on both boxes i have to leave for about 30 seconds before powering up agan for power to drain before firing her back up again to boot properly

Hehe, yeah, I think the moral of this story is sometimes you can clone things a little too well, faults and all :-)

one thing i do notice clone is more likely to crash and not boot than the original with modified bootloaders / images and some plugins and me power button on the front of the clone dont work

We seem to have moved away from the original topic so to get back on track. On my clone dm800 I loaded the latest Pli image and then flashed with the ssl76a and all worked fine but I removed the pli and installed dream elite 133d and that is working fine. I would like to load the Nabilo Blackhole in flas but decided against it as I thought I might have problems with loading images that have later cvs programs. If I was to load BA or Meoboot so I can multiboot with dream elite in flash would this result in corrupting the bootloader?
